Rumor: The Ford F-150 Raptor Is Getting the Mustang GT500's Supercharged V-8

I'm not really sweating it one way or the other. It's important to note that I already have a 700 horsepower V8 Raptor. And believe me when I tell you that it is one hell of a lot of fun to own. Still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Hell, every time I fire it up. Hopefully you guys will get a chance to find out what you've been missing soon.

Oh and for Jazzie's sake, yes, I roll my window down and step on it every time I go through a tunnel. I guess you are just more mature than I am.

Autoweek makes a good point that it gives them a high volume model to recoup the development costs of the GT500 motor.



If they are going to do it we will know a lot sooner than that. And pressure is definitely building.

I don't get why everyone isn't more excited about this. Some of these guys have their egos way too wrapped up in having the "best Raptor there ever was or ever will be". So much so that they would rather let Ford get beat by Dodge. What strange, fragile little men.

Ford knew how damaging it would be to their sales for people to start to think they weren't going to offer V8s anymore so they corrected the record.

Fellas, the V6 was never the best motor for the job. It was just the best motor available at the time. So Ford put it in the truck and then put all the power of their marketing machine behind it. And it has been a success, financially. But now it's time for them to build a machine for the true enthusiast. There are still a lot of car guys at Ford.

Hell, I already have a 700 horsepower V8 Raptor and I'm going to pick one of these up if they build it. ADM and all.

Raptor sells nearly 30k units per year. That's more than Corvette. Tesla Model X or S. And nearly as many as all Porsche models combined. It is most definitely a high volume model and not nearly as special as you think it is. Just ask any of the dozen or so Raptors I see every day on the road.

I could definitley see them doing this because given the fact that a TRX prototype was spotted with a ,more than likely, hellcat engine ford will definitley need to up the game engine wise to compete. I could probably not afford the V8 but I’d love to see one available for people!

You have a source for 30k/year? Back in Gen 1 days they were making way under 10k/year.

I’d like to know the source as well. I was always under the impression Ford Releases sales figures for the entire F series line and it specific models.
