Question: I have a Giro full face helmet made out of carbon fiber for downhill mountain biking... I don't think it's DOT because it's not made for driving but shouldn't it be aloud??

How loud is it? Just messing with ya. I would think if they allowed anything that wasn't DOT then it might come back to haunt them if something happened because they are insuring the event.

The requirement is DOT Approved, so I don't think a mountain bike helmet will make the grade. It's for your safety, and probably for insurance reasons as stated above. You can get a DOT for a reasonable price.

If you ride anywhere that requires a helmet for off roading, this will come in handy. All the tracks I've been to in Colorado, Nevada, and Texas require the same.

Just to clarify. DOT is not required. It's just the lowest rating allowed. Helmets have to be *at least* DOT rated. Snell is allowed as well, If the bike helmet has any kind of rating, you might talk to Trey about it in PM.
