Wilson, I seen your post about a good location to mount your radio. Did you ever decide?

no but was thinking about mounting it in the center cubby cut so it's out the driver side probably mount it sideways in the front? but it's really hard for me to cut on the truck if I knew it would be a good job fine. or it I get the one with channels on the mic just hide it some where.
I would also like it mounted right beside or on top of the cubby below the air bag as close to the center as possible but didn't do much measuring just looked I still need the radio so I can see it.
how about the antenna I wanted it on the bed with it up over the cab but if it blocks and don't work the best probably just go with a magnet.
I've never owned anything this nice before and would like to keep it nice as long as possible. like if the radio brakes and need a new one (does not fit in the same location) that would suck.
If I knew how to spell you still wouldn't understand this.

:laughing1: I get where you are going . I am thinking of attaching it to the passenger side of the console. I did decide to permanently attached an NMO antenna on the roof . I am finding out that its recommended to use a speacial drill bit for the hole :help:. I am debating on adding an FM antenna somewhere else since i decided not to attach the factory one back on after installing the new fenders. I like the clean look , plus i rarely listen to FM stations.

My radio is velcroed to the back of the center counsel. It's not permanent and it holds strong, held through snoball and last Sunday it only fell off once but that's cause I went to big. Only other time it came off is when's my dog kicked it off cause it was in his way to lay on the counsel

Yeah I bought some heavy duty / industrial Velcro from Walmart; it's in the sewing section and stuck one side to the back of the consul the other side to the radio mount.

One thing to keep in mind regarding mounting. Where is the speaker located? The hand held mic, or on the base unit. The TYT9000 is on the base unit. Therefore, mounting it next to the driver on the center console works well.

I like bird-of-pray's mounting location, but then my speaker would be muffled. Or I would have to tie it into the truck speakers some how.

I know that Autozone/advance auto have fm antennas that are a flat bar that u could mount under the hood. hook up and connect a ground. I put one under the dash of my Baja Hammer when I had it. reception wasnt terrible, and its a clean look. Just an idea
