i know this may be a stupid question, but sometimes my OCD gets the best of me.

to install the cross bar, you have to lift the bed a bit, I have the factory sprayed in liner, for those of you that have done it, how did you not make a mess of the bed bolts that are sprayed in?

I used a heat gun to soften the material. Held it about 8inches away. Then slowly started to cut around the bolt with a fresh utility knife. And you have to make sure you get all the material from inside the torque plus hole otherwise you won't get a good grip when unbolting.
I've heard guys just cutting with a knife and no issue. Patience, slow and steady.

What did you put on it once completed?

I haven't looked at a F150 that has the spray-on type liner from the factory in a long while but I don't believe Ford or any professional liner company would spray over the bed mount bolts. I know I had Linex done on a few trucks over the years and they never sprayed over the bed bolts.

Anyway, you don't need to loosen the bed to install that crossbar. Perhaps I was lucky but do recall it was a little snug and a sand-mallet made it easier to adjust it to allow me to pop-in the bolts.

Ford actually does spray the bolt heads which is why I recommend and went with Line-X because they do it correctly.

That is the same with my 18, they did a great job from the factory if that is really where is is sprayed in.

I would use a heat gun and knife and if you need to just reseal it put some black RTV sealer under the head of the bolt and wipe away the excess

I installed SVC’s kit and didn’t have to lift the bed. I did remove the bed bolts for a chase rack with the cut and peel method. It comes off fairly easy, the bolts are treated and shouldn’t rust
