The weight that you plan to put in the bed is kind of negligible to the effective ride height. If you plan to put a couple hundred more pounds of stuff in the bed when going off-road, then you'll probably be spot on level-wise, and "stinkbug" without the kit in the bed.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated! I am new to building up off road rigs, this was helpful.

My wants and needs differ a little from many on here so I think I'll err on the side of stinkbug rather than Cali/prerunner lean.

- ill be on more rocky jeep trails/dirt roads than desert runs - I do want to gain a few inches of clearance via minor suspension mods and ultimately run 37s

- some times ill be offroading with out much weight, sometimes ill have a full cab (of people) and sometimes ill be loaded up for camping

- my wife also need to be able to occasionally tow her horse to local trail heads

- I will run a winch and a few lights whether it's OEM bumper (what I'm leaning towards) or aftermarket is to be determined

I got the adjustable perch so hopefully I can find a happy medium and also change based on future upgrades.

you may want to just call deaver and talk to them. The horse and trailer would have me leaning towards having them do an overload leaf or building one of their HD spring packs to suit.

As an alternative to custom or HD options, you could go with their standard offering and use something like roadmaster active suspension when towing the horse trailer ( I used this on my 2011 f150 and am using them on my raptor if I need to use it to move my airboat ( which is a heavy MFer) . They take about 10 mins to install or remove and are under $400.

If you go this route, you'll get the load carrying/hauling capability, without sacrificing ride/flex when not towing.

If you arent doing a bunch of high speed stuff, you may not need to lift the rear at all to stuff a 37 while crawling. You'll most likely have to trim just a little on the front liners to prevent rubbing.

just know that you will have to adjust your driving habits with 37s on the raptor while crawling. Dont expect to stuff the tire with the wheels turned to full lock without rubbing.

Thanks for the info! The standard +3's and 2.5 bumps are on the way, but I was aware of those options prior to ordering. We are going to start here and see what we think.

The trailer is very light at 3200 empty, horse is no more than 1100, several 100 in gear, no major highways to worry about, and the towing will not be more than 40-50 miles round trip /3-4x a year - fairly minimal needs.

Good to know about the 37s, a pinch of lift will still help with approach, breakover and departure angles I think. There will definitely be some high speed wide open running, it will just be less frequent than the local trails/dirt roads

the front altitude adjustment + 37s make a bigger difference in ground clearance that i thought i'd see.

The biggest impact to approach angle that you can make is to replace the front bumper with a frame horn chop offering.

You'll drag the exhaust first with regard to departure angle. There really isnt a ton of room for improvement other than ditching the exhaust tips or rerouting the exhaust. Since you tow from time to time like me, the hitch will stay on the truck. The rear bumper options out there might change the appearance and/or add spots to mount lights, but do not do anything for departure angle.

Breakover is kind of crazy on these trucks due to the longgggggg wheelbase, and not much that can be done about it.

By this do you mean the adjustable perch collar or something else? If you mean the adjustable perch collar, that's good to hear and exactly what I am looking for!

The front approach is already much better than the departure so I don't know if an after market front bumper is really worth while, like you said, not much I can do about the departure or breakover with out more lift and more tire. I'll just have to get out on the trails and see!

the combo of perch collars + 37s provided a lot more clearance under the truck than I thought it would.

I have a pair of comparison photos in my build thread.

I'll be posting pictures once I get my new front bumper from rogue ( went with the enforcer frame chop), but it is going to be about a month before it shows up. (I missed the last production run by a couple days, so I have to be patient .)

Are the increments 0.5" or something a little more? It looks like it has 5 settings but with a range of 1.0" to 3.5" wouldn't the settings be:

1.0" -- 1.625" -- 2.25" -- 1.875" -- 3.5"

I assumed .5 per ring also but this is what RPG sent me:

1.= 1.0''
2.= 1-5/8"
3.= 2-3/4
4.= 2-7/8
5.= 3.5

I'm on 5 and it really doesn't seem like 3.5 to me but I didn't measure prior.

Weird, on page of their installation guide it says this:

* Bottom groove for 1.0" Lift
* Middle Grove for 2.25" Lift
* Top Grove for 3.5" Lift

https://www.rpgoffroad.com/wp-content/uploads/Adjustable_SpringPerchCollar_Installation_Guide_X1.pdf

I think this makes more sense and it seems each groove increases height by 5/8" (0.625")

1. = 1.0"
2. = 1.625"
3. = 2.25"
4. = 2.875"
5. = 3.5"
