it better be mid engine! cuz this thing no more weight up front! It'll land like a lawn dart.
As long as it's got an aluminum block the weight difference will be minimal.

It is now. The 7.0 is going to replace it.The 6.2 is a Super Duty engine.
No, it isn't debatable. The results speak for themselves. Admit it, if the GenII had a direct-injected V8 with the horsepower and torque figures of the HO EB V6, you'd have already rubbed yourself raw thinking about it. You're so hung up on, of all things, the ******* sound of the GenII motor, and THAT'S your hangup. The only one. It has nothing to do with direct injection, or turbos ('cause a direct-injected TT V8 would be badass, right??), it's all about the sound. Full stop. And while I certainly believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion, I really think it's stupid to ignore the rest of the badassery going on with the GenII because of the ******* noise it makes. That's debatable. It makes a few more horsepower but is significantly more costly and less reliable. It also sounds like absolute dogshit. Easily one of the worst sounding engines ever made. It's that bad. And it has less potential.
This new N/A 7.0 is the perfect engine for the Raptor.

In regard to the DOHC 427 going into the Raptor, if/when it happens, we'll see how it performs. We'll see if it makes the same or better horsepower/torque at RPM levels that are appropriate for truck use while still passing emissions standards (which, like it or not, are an absolute requirement if the truck is ever going to be produced). At that point, you'll have more weight in the front end, and it'll be moved in the wrong direction (forward) relative to the location of the HO EB V6. I'm sure that THAT will make it more pleasant to use in its intended application (desert running).
As for the potential, again, don't be ridiculous... I wouldn't assume that just because there's more displacement, there's more potential... a long block designed/built for boost can often take a LOT more cylinder pressure (and therefore make more power) than one that was designed/built to be NA.
Look, I agree that there's no replacement for displacement... BUT... ALL other parameters must be equal. In this case, they aren't... and therefore, I wouldn't bet against the smaller, more robustly built long block.
@Truckzor you're still here...posting in the Gen II section
Right up until today, I have always maintained that you would never find me on the Jen 2 forum. I honestly don't even know where it is. But I think I'll make my way over there now so I can make sure to keep up on all the latest news as Ford gets ready to roll out the 7.0.
