Well you’re already out $1800.00 from the extended warranty you purchased. Are you saying you will get reimbursed for the cost of the extended if you don’t put it to use and after selling the truck?

Anyway 14k is too much for me to swallow and even if there is a risk, Ford won’t cover it. I’d lay down that extended and hope they do and put that to use. 14k still seems like a lot for a whole new motor. But if your stuck at this dealer and fighting the previous work they have done and you believe they are at fault. Then you may be stuck there. If the extended does cover it, who cares of the cost. Otherwise I would get Ford corp involved. If you have to pay out of pocket and see if they can assist. Based on what you have been through.

Anyway just my two cents.

How long are they going to let your truck sit at the dealer before you start coughing up coinage? Did you phone Ford customer service or did the dealership tell you that BS? Haven't you contacted your insurance adjuster yet? If you have, get them to approve the replacement, pull the motor out and the ford rep can look at it out of the truck and determine what's at fault, then, if the dealer is at fault, they can pay for the whole kit kabutle and you're out nothing. Sounds like a win win to me.

I think the issue is he has an aftermarket warranty, not the Ford ESP.

If he did/does have Ford ESP, the decision is simple. ESP will pay for tear down and send one of their inspectors out. They’ll determine if it’s a warrantable defect or a workmanship issue. If it’s a defect, ESP pays. If it’s determined to be workmanship, you now have a solid case against the dealer to hold them accountable for the repair cost.

Based on the cost involved, I think pursuing a warranty fix is the way to go. Risk a little now, but it could save you a lot.

File it with your warranty and tell them the situation. They can decide if they want to fight with ford about it.

Could turn into a shytshow or work out good. Flip a coin

14K is WAY too much for the motor and to swap it.

This is coming from someone that has replaced my stocker with a built motor.

also, for reference, a supercharged coyote swap into a raptor is 55K ( give or take a few grand. )

Just spoke with the ford rep, they do require me to give authorization and to assume responsibility for the cost of tear down.

I'm going to try to get the extended warranty to cover it. Otherwise if I pay $1850 to tear it down & ford doesn’t take responsibility then im out
$1850 for the tear down &
$1800 for the warranty. Risking $1850 to save $1800 doesn’t make sense to me.

Plus I just read the extended warranty contract, they must be contacted prior to any work being done on the vehicle or the contract is voided & they do not cover tear downs.

& my driver heated seats and both power mirrors stopped working so I’ll have them do that too ‍♂️
