So I just spoke to the service advisor, told me it’ll cost 14k for a new motor installed. Said that they haven’t torn down the motor yet, but they can tell that the rod/rod bearing was broken. He mentioned that timing/cam phasers would not cause this to happen and that it’s most likely due to the failure of the oil pump or bad oil in the truck.
( I only get my oil changes at the dealership )

He said he’ll get back to me with the cost for a tear down on the motor which will not be included in the $14k if I decide to replace the motor.

I do have an extended warranty on it, I wanted ford to cover it (if it’s their fault) so I can prorate the extended warranty.

I wonder if it’s worth risking having to pay for the tear down on the motor considering @FordTechOne said that most likely it would not be the cam phaser issue. & even if it was due to workmanship they probably wouldn’t even admit to it… right ?

14K is a ridiculous price. They’re obviously marking up the long block well above MSRP and probably over estimating the labor hours as well. Oil pump failure is very unlikely. It sounds like a workmanship issue; as I mentioned, be sure to inspect for a cracked crankshaft timing gear. Is your extended warranty through Ford?

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it!
@FordTechOne if I a bov & intercooler installed you think a ford rep would use that as an argument on why the motor might have failed ?

Not unless there is evidence that the aftermarket charge air cooler or BPV introduced debris into the engine or allowed unfiltered air to enter the intake piping. So as long as neither of those conditions occurred it should be irrelevant.

The extended warranty is aftermarket. Maybe it’s time for a gen 3 haha. Couple months ago I put a deposit on a R but who knows when that will come out ‍♂️.

@FordTechOne ford has some manual for their technician’s when it comes to replacing parts right ? I wonder if there’s a guide/ set standards when replacing the cam phasers. So that I can compare their work that’s on the receipt to the manual. If they missed replacing the bolt

Yes, it’s very comprehensive and covers every step of the procedure. The crank bolt and all 4 phaser bolts are required to be replaced each time they’re removed, so all of them should be listed on your repair order.

Do you know where I can find a copy of that manual ? I have the repair order /receipt & it doesn't show anything about replacing the crank bolt

Having the aftermarket intercooler COULD cause an issue with your warranty if they want to be *****. You just never know . . Just saying my 2 cents.
I would say it is unlikely that the dealer would try to pin your blown motor issue(s) on an aftermarket intercooler, and even more so unlikely that would even stick if they tried.
