I know ford played around with the idea but, I was wondering how many people actually care about having a shifter vs a dial and the reasons behind it? I've got a feeling a lot of people will just be happy with it as is but, I think you could make the interior even sleeker with a dial shifter and you already have paddle shifters for fun. (Also, could it really get worse than the flimsy fold-down shifter feel?)

Thoughts?

Anything could be better than the 2021 shifter. It feels cheap and clunky. I am seriously concerned there will be problems with them down the road.

i really did not like the idea of a dial before using one.

in order of preference based on my experience thus far:
- actual manual
- "gated" auto shifters like lexus/toyota that enable you to throw the shifter in the right spot quickly using muscle memory
- dial
- straight shifter
- button shifters

Manual would be great, but those are millenial anti-theft devices nowadays

Haha coming from a power wagon I keep reaching for the dash to put it into reverse or park.... The first time I hit the trailer assist button to start it, guessing my ram had it closer to the center than hidden behind the wheel

I like to use the manual shift buttons on the shifter whenever the paddle shifters are not practical due to turning. When I drive my wife’s Explorer ST I am constantly looking for a shifter to rest my right hand on

I don't see the point in the shifter (other than a throwback).....I would take tree shifter, buttons or dial over the center shifter....then you can lower the work area while driving for the passenger too
