Removing the plastic top rail and finishing with line x

Has anyone done this? The area covered by the bedside top plastic cap is riddled with mounting holes and the inside vertical strip is very crude.

I have done it before, you just have to be careful not to break the clips. From the undersided of the bed ail squeeze & up jon the clip as you are lifting it from the top, and preceed toward the back as they pop loose. There's probably a video on Youtube as well.
