Yea it sucks. They stole my Glock that was unsecured, but I'm lucky that's all they took. Had a 2k laptop, both kids ipads, and 2 other guns. Need to invest in a console vault/safe.

Lucky that's all they took? Thanks for being a ****** gun owner and allowing all the cops to have to deal with another thug with a stolen gun. You should forever lose your 2A right for being an idiot!

Oh that's even better. Now I have a chance of running into that thug with a stolen gun considering I'm just an hour North in Austin. :flipthebird:

Law makers need to start throwing irresponsible gun owners in jail. It's already a law if a child obtains your firearm, why isn't it against the law if your gun gets stolen from your vehicle? I think it's a good one for TMPA and CLEAT to propose to Texas law makers. I hear about this shit all too often in my profession and it infuriates me to no end.

Oh for ***** sake. Looks like we got another brain dead liberal anti gunner on our hands. With all the gun free zones we have to deal with in our daily travels, laws like the ones you are proposing are just another way to effectively disarm everyone. You're playing right into the anti gunners hands, my friend. If you're so fearful, maybe it's time to look for another profession. Of course, then you'd have the same chances the rest of us have of running into an armed thug except you'd have no gun, no vest, and no backup. How's that sound?

By the way, I hope you didn't shoot any puppies or unarmed women today. :flipthebird:

I'm quite the opposite of your liberal anti-gunner statement. I'm for everyone owning firearms as long as it's not by a thug, legal ownership and done by someone that knows how to properly secure and handle a firearm in situations that one would need to use it. This idiot saying he went inside a restaurant and left his firearm inside his vehicle only to be stolen leads me to believe he's not a CHL holder. What good is carrying, if you can't carry it into a restaurant where the probability of needing a firearm is much higher than driving in your car from California to Texas? That's just ignorant.

Don't pacify this guy by coming at me for calling him out as a ******* gun owner. I carry mine concealed off duty everywhere I go. And it's on me even if I walk inside a gas station to grab a can of dip. Because that's all the time some **** needs to break into your car and find your gun.

Been doing this job for 18 years now.....never been called scared or been told I should look for another profession.

You sound like a good candidate for incarceration, and frankly, your attitude displayed here shows pretty much everyone you have no business being in law enforcement. Where exactly do you work, so we can point your leadership to this scintillating little tirade?

You don’t get to decide who gets to own guns, carry guns or whether their otherwise legal conduct, while being victimized by a crime, should land someone in jail. You have a serious temper problem on display here.

Step off (of the internet) for a while, and reevaluate your life priorities.

Yeah, we know there’s an unsecured gun on the street now, but you’re no more likely to encounter it than some elderly woman in an Austin, Tx. home.

now, let’s recap, shall we? OP had his Gl*ck in a --LOCKED-- F150. Not sitting out in the open, locked and out of view. It was stolen in a ... larceny. Forcibly.

you said you’ve never been told to look for another profession.

Based on your comments here, I shall oblige. Look for another profession.

Bottom line, secure your weapon in a safe or you're being irresponsible. Locked in a vehicle is NOT secure, as we've all seen and read (Glove box, and consoles also NOT a safe). A console vault Can be a great spot to store when the weapon can't be under your direct control.

When it's recovered come back and let us know what becomes of this, as the story may not be over just yet..

Safety first, and Support your local LEO..

Oh good for you. That's your choice. I could care less about your opinion on gun control. At least the detective I dealt with at SAPH was a professional. I bet you're a ***** day in and day out.

I sympathize with you for the violation of your property, your nonchalant attitude about the gun is ****** though.

Hey forum members, this is a FORD RAPTOR FORUM! This one is specifically on how thieves can break into your raptor and possible solutions to this problem. Please google "firearm forums" or "political debate forums" and join those if you want to discuss firearm ownership responsibility. Is there no administrators on these forum who will put an end to these run off threads!!! Maybe they are like the gods and enjoy watching the chaos!

I'd like to agree with you. The truck has no plates, and we had been in the restaurant like an hour and a half before this happened. The guns never moved from the console since we entered Texas, no stickers or other bs on the truck. I'm guessing it was due to the ****** locks. Hit mine and got lucky. Didn't take anything else because the alarm was going off.

It takes skill and knowledge to jimmy the door handle the way these guys did. Amateurs would have used a rock. These guys were obviously more experienced and knowledgeable than the average methhead.

Experience also means they most likely knew an alarm would go off. But somehow they knew there was something so enticing in your truck that made it worth taking the risk. I have no idea how they figured it out, but I doubt scoring your pistol was dumb luck on their part. Most likely these guys knew what they were doing.
