Not sure why there is a caustic reaction from some to the Gen II (and III’s, to a lesser extent). Look at the objective comparison on paper with measurements such as hp/trq, weight, suspension, frame…

My 590+hp Stage II Roush (likely in the 625hp range) Gen I runs great for what it is. I also acknowledge a friend has a Cobb-tuned, stock turbo, stock most everything else, will run right with my truck until about 90mph, where I slowly begin to walk away until we quickly run into the speed limiter (it’s not like we’re doing 30-130 roll races!).

I will provide the board with an objective and subjective review of the ‘22 TRX when it arrives and I have some seat time in it. It’s the closest to a Gen I.
The caustic reactions originate due to certain Gen 1 fanboys (not you, but not mentioning names) who can't grasp the fact that a newer, more capable model has replaced their truck.

We can certainly look at the objective comparison; I'm all for that. Gen 2 has significantly more power and torque, an all new and much stronger frame, and a stronger body while weighing in at 500lbs less. All beneficial in terms of on and off road performance.

Roush is entirely aftermarket, so it's not quite a valid comparison. I suppose it would be more objective to compare a Gen 2 with upgraded turbos.

Regardless, you seem more like a guy who is interested in the potential of these trucks as opposed to trolling. And I'll drink a beer with you to that, and look forward to your TRX review :happy160:

Completely agree. If OEM, I’m a turbo guy. Gen II + III EB were purpose built for forced induction with the block and rotating parts (6.2 SOHC was not) and it runs great. I can’t imagine someone jumping in a Gen I and Gen II with zero sound leaving the experience thinking and feeling the Gen I is superior.

If it’s aftermarket, I’ve had better experiences with superchargers (less parts, less system complexity, less tuning complexity, I can go on).

It’s possible I regret moving away from the Gen I Roush. I suspect I’ll be happy with the choice (which is primarily driven by used auto market and my mileage). I suspect it is Gen II Baja capable with outlandish acceleration on-road with a Gen I sound on steroids. If it meets that, I’m good with the choice. I’ll let everyone know if it’s a regret or no regret decision. Regardless, this Gen I has been good to me (*please don’t drop a valve in between!!!*).

My comment was that you really can not compare a new truck with a 8-10 year old truck. I am all for comparing trucks but one is the OG with 10+ years under its belt while the other is a new one playing catch up.

I mean I am all about new bolt ons to a younger frame, just not on trucks.

Agree as well, aftermarket S/C is less intrusive than aftermarket T/C setup for sure. Thank you for your objective experience. I think the worst part about the 6.2 valve issue is it seems to be random and unpredictable; some go 300k+ miles while others fail in half that time, I haven’t been able to determine a rhyme or reason. There has got to be a root cause, but I have yet to hear of one. Looking forward to your review and thanks for being a positive attribute to the forum, we need more of that!

My OEM S/C on the F150 Harley was ok, better after I put work into it. The turbo on my 6.7 was a beast. Honestly, probably like both of those trucks over my Gen 2. But they are not comparable. 3 different uses.
