Definitely needed the external speaker.
Get in touch with Keith from LVJ motorsports. He sells a “splice into your center dash speaker kit” which works nice.

I'm a licensed Ham radio operator, and what you do, and how you use a certain radio is your choice. I can't say getting the license gives you any inside dope on how to properly operate a Ham radio. Join a local Ham group, and they'll help you immensely.
I took a 1 day class, it was easy, no problem at all.

Ask this question first... What are you trying to do? Who are you trying to talk to?

There are many "bands" of radio frequencies out there, and radios made specificaly for each, and some that can cover most.

However, some of those options will require licenses if you want to be legal about it.... Ham, GMRS, FRS, MURS, CB, MARINE, Air Band. (I think listed them all)

Not getting into the technicalities of it. No shortage of information on the subjects on the interwebs.
Good Luck... it may take at least 3 more days ;)

How well does this work? There goes another $25, lol. It's also one of those products you kick yourself for and wonder why you didn't think of doing that in the first place.
