I would be interested as well with the apps feature as well. I am thinking it would be fairly good sense they have the App Radio, which I thought was ok. Maybe better with time and updates. Interaction with my iphone/iPod touch is important to me.

Cheers,

Fred

Below is the list of compatible apps...if your interested in the just audio...both alpine and pioneer have Bluetooth source...I am sure it will be the similar to the SYNC in the Raptor..while in Bluetooth audio the Raptor will play any audio being played on the phone(pandora, youtube, iheartradio, music from phone, etc.).

Apps | Pioneer Electronics USA

edit: the Maps app is the one I am interested in using.

After a few days of playing with the Alpine unit I am pleased with the outcome.
I was worried I might loose some quality of sound, but after figuring out all the adjustments it's even better then I thought it could be. Endless adjustments from how you hear it like were you are seating to the type of material your seats are made of. These are simple automatic adjustments I made changes to how I like to hear the sound.
I can't get Pandora up here sounds like it would be nice to have and the digital scan for radio not good up here either, seem to only get a couple of channels so not getting the full benefit of that. Have to research to make sure I am operating it properly or it doesn't work as in no local stations.
The Nav system works great after making some adjustments on how I want to view things otherwise works as a Nav system should. Only thing is I don't get street names on the voice just turn at next right, not a big deal can live without that. Looked to see if updates for maps available and nothing and it looks like they charge for that when available, not sure if I can change to a different Nav software if necessary
DVD works awesome..nuff said
Tried to play movies through my Ipad but could not get video to work, sound ok. Ipad said I need an app for that but did not tell me which one I needed and couldn't find one through searching.
The Sync system seems to work ok looks like you loose some options but the Sync shuts the unit off every time I was using the phone ended up disconnecting the blue tooth on the phone for being paired with Sync. So then I loose voice dialing through the Sync and have to use the voice control on the phone or touch screen on the unit. That goes for hanging up the phone the wheel control does not do that you have to push the screen icon.
Still learning as I go along I may not being doing some of these things correct so let me know if you think I am doing something wrong.
Reading the latest posts are there apps available for this unit?
Thanks

there are some for the alpine, but you need to check your data plan.......... you will use it up quickly.

as far as ipad ges, it should work like an ipod, as long as you have the right cable...... you need to plug your phone in f you want pandora controls on your radio. set the radio for manual tuning and not seek. it will pass over a bunch of stations, also check the settings...... dx, local, etc.....

Hey Busa,

with the Pioneer (AVIC-Z140BH) which speakers would you go with to replace the stock door speakers?

Will I need a amp?

I have been looking at pioneer speakers from the Crutchfield website.
