I need a bit of help on what to turn off or do in this situation.

I typically haul my dirt bike on a hitch rack when riding solo. This past weekend while parking in the desert I was backing up and the auto brake engaged every couple of feet. First time was a bit of a surprise, the rest were just annoying.

Is there something I can turn off to prevent this?

Good question !!

My Mercedes Sprinter does this and there is an icon on the screen in one of the menus where I can turn it off

Happens all the time when I have our 4 bike hitch rack. Just turn off the rear sensors. The first time it kicks on the brakes....oh boy did I crap myself.

For as much technology as we have in our trucks, you'd think it'd be smart enough to recognize something like a hitch rack. Or, why not put a button or switch at the rear when you have something installed in the receiver. I still forget to turn the emergency braking off after 4 years with my truck.

Thanks for the info, I'll check the driver assist features. That first auto stop scared the crap out of me, thought I backed into something.

Yamaha YZ450Fx, Black Widow Dirt Bike Carrier. The only catch with the dirt bike carrier is that you must use a hitch anti rattle plate, but it helps tremendously in reducing carrier movement.
