I have an auto start on my show car.
I had the hood closed permission jumpered out, "as if the hood is always closed". I liked starting my car at our cruise-ins from time to time depending on who was getting a little too close, or just for grins.

FYI, just got the truck back from my local mechanic. Turns out the "start, run relay" was blown. At least I got 60k miles out of it before it blew....

Do use have a multimeter you can use? Turn it to A/C and check to see if there is voltage at the battery. Turn your ignition on and just ground the black lead to a point on your truck (the metal wire on the hood is a good grounding point) and test the red terminal to wire. should be ~14 v.

Open your hood and behind the Air Box is the push pin for the remote starte. Check to see if it is loose. Clean dirt off it and make sure it goes up & down without sticking. Close the hood and try your remote start now. Hopefully that's the issue.

it should be DC not AC. you would check AC at the alternator

Not sure if this will help anyone here, but try using the remote start. Make sure the *hood* and all doors are closed (I know for certain it won't work if hood is open, not sure on doors).

I had a deal a few months ago where my keys stopped working. Turned out that for the ~24 hours my truck sat on a dealer lot, they put a Ford add-on alarm in it. They didn't remove it correctly, and two years later a critical ignition-related wire came loose. But the remote start still worked, so at least I could drive it.

Remote start works if the doors are open I believe
