how light do you guys think the lightning was? your talking like its insanely lighter than current F150's

just googled a bit. came up with these numbers (no idea how accurate, so take it with a grain of salt)

03 lightning curb weight: 4670
13 F150 reg cab short bed curb weight: 4,925

250 lbs difference.

also, just to further prove my argument that the tremor is nothing more than a rcsb with the FX package, and nothing special like some people think it is, go build an F150 on fords site, no tremor trim. pick one of the FX2 or FX4, and make it a single cab. boom, tremor.

But back in 05-06 the coyote wasn't even an idea and the FGT was sucking up all of SVTs resources. I believe the 04-08 truck were heavier then the 09+ trucks but the new motors help a lot.

The new motor makes ALL the difference. The N/A 5.4 was an absolute ****! The 2v 5.4 in the L's could at least handle boost. The 3v 5.4's in the 04-10 trucks were fragile as an egg when it came to boost. Same weak rods as the 2v 5.4, with notched pistons for the 3v making them an even weaker point. So low on power as N/A, weak on boost with anything more than 4-5 lbs (ooooh 4-5 pounds, what's that a blower sneeze?), and heavy *** iron block. The 5.0 can handle boost much better, makes way better power even as N/A, and is much lighter aluminum block. Not to mention the new 6 speed 6R80 trans is leaps and bounds better than the old 4 speed 4R100, having those 2 extra gears really allows for quicker acceleration down low where it helps in the 1/4 mile, without sacraficing top end RPM for mileage since there's 2 more gears to spread the ratio across.

Yup, it's basically the weight difference of having a full grown male passenger in a Lightning, guys talk about it like they're 1,000 lbs heavier. They look bulkier, but the weight isn't all that much different. The aluminum block saves a big chunk alone. And then add in the extra creature comforts the new trucks come with, take those back out an dget the same level of options as a L had, you're back at essentially the same weight as a Gen 2 L, with a powertrain that could handle a little boost. Unfortunately it never happened, but hopefully after the redesign Ford will bring one back out.
