I can't tell what you hooked up to, but it seems like the trailer hitch? I don't mean to be a kill joy... but that is not safe. I'm just glad it did not pop out and slingshot anyone in the face

I don't see a problem with it. I would inspect the bolts before I went yanking on it, but if they seem whole, pull away on that thing. You can pick up a car with just one small bolt.

Yes, if I had to choice I would have removed the hitch and just strapped up to the hitch pin. However, it seems like the strap was wrapped around the hitch ball. This is very dangerous. The hitch ball was designed for towing. The weight on it is distributed evenly because the trailer will rotate around the ball. But when you put the ******** it... there is leverage. And that leverage could cause the ball to snap off (since it was not designed for that kind of stress). Anybody can recover however they want. I just wouldn't risk my life tugging on a weak point that is pointed straight in my direction just to get a vehicle out, unless it was a life/death emergency.

Oh shit, i just noticed that you were around the ball... I thought he was wrapped around the tow bar. I agree with humvee. Wrapping around the tow bar is much safer imo, more bolts to receive the lateral force applied. Except, were telling propdr whom has mentioned he does steel stress testing, and is about to school us on forces and metal compounds and shit!!
