Y'all:

2019 Gen 2 raptor.

i use mine for everything: dd, off roading, light crawling, and lots of truck adventure camping (overlanding to use the parlance).
i run a decked drawer system, keep about 100# in the drawers at most times, have a 1000 kw lithium to solar dual battery system in bed, and arb elements fridge, lietner rack and i kamper rtt.
point is i add about 900# constant static weight over bed, and that's before any humans get in, so i am maxed at payload.

long story short, i have lots of suspension sag in rear end, and this is constant weight, not like a trailer.

i know full well that air bags like the firestone ride rite system will lose me much needed rear travel.
the guys at my local 4 x 4 shop think they'll do what i want, esp if they install a "cup" to keep the bag "up" when the wheel needs to travel downwards when i need articulation off road.

is this legit? i do not tow more than 1000# ever (just my kayak trailer,) so towing needs not my issue.

going with leafs (like an icon set, etc.) and a lift would likely help too, but then leave me very stiff, and given it's also a dd, i love the soft ride!!!

any suggestions?

fyi: i also desire to change out to some method 703's and keep the KO2's (i love them), but go to a 37".

as always, appreciate the help/advise/wisdom, but i do not need sarcasm or cynicism like: who overlands a raptor, etc.?

thanks in advance.

Yes, like Mr Taco said, Deaver plus 3 rear springs will do the trick, I would even upgrade to a bump stop kit with what you are doing with the truck. The truck will ride better and perform better, there is only onw draw back with the springs, they are prone to surface rust, I've had them on for years and just coat them in Fluid film every fall, there has been zero sag or problems with mine in 6 years.

It wouldn't hurt to find a scale and measure the load on the rear axle with a full load out. If you look at the sticker inside the door frame, you'll see not only the GVWR number, but a maximum weight on each axle. 3750lb on my 2020 if my memory serves. When I load my 2020 up at GVWR - 200lbs I don't sag ... with that much weight that far back, you could be overloading the rear springs pretty badly. You'll want those numbers when you talk to Deaver, so you might as well do it first.

awesome stuff guys. i appreciate all the wisdom.
it echoes my thoughts: new leafs and bumps.
but...i was wanting the icon multi rate leafs, they're raptor specific and for a static load of 850# while giving 1" over stock lift, which is (coincidentally) like my exact load.
i would pair them with icon's hydraulic bump stops and their front leveling kit, and then hope that it'll fit ko2 37's without much, if any, cutting.

deavers vs icon is looking like what it comes down to.
i believe deavers will custom a kit???

i will update with pics as we go.

thanks. happy thanksgiving, and (as a doctor) please be safe and wear your friggin' masks!!

Deaver has +3 and +4 HD spring packs that have the extra spring you need for the load you carry. It's really up to you which company you go with. I went with Deaver because they've been doing springs for a long time and I've had their leaf packs on the two rangers I had before the raptor.

Dont mind the guys mentioning rust. All leaf springs rust..

Says the guy living in the desert where there is no rust to worry about. I've drove to Vegas from the rust belt several times, just so my truck could dry out, lol, plus for the cheap booze and the playground.

Not sure what your point is. They all rust...lol. My OEM leafs were rusted when I pulled them off. I had to torch the center pins out to get the ubolt locator plate off of them.

rust is real everywhere...eventually. just super delayed in desert.
i am pretty good about keeping everything wet every year to try and prevent.
but...i live a a 4 season part of the country.
it's always a work in progress, right?

thanks all for the advice.

who says a raptor can't do anything and everything you ask of it? especially if ya keep opening up the wallet :))

Just my 2 cents; If you plan on going with a suspension system in the future I'd purchase leafs that would work with that system, unless you want to Frankenstein your suspension or the cost just doesn't matter . With the addition of my rack, carrying 2 spares, camping gear, etc and carrying a jetski on a hitch mount..... well yeah leafs are in my future. I'm going with Icon over Deaver only because sometime next year I'm probably gonna get their stage 4 anyways.
