Rust on roof?

Hey Guys,i been lurking for quite some time trying to learn about the Raptor, i test drove the 5.4 but was not to happy with the power since i drive the GM 6.2 Now

Reason for posting is i was looking at that Orange Race truck and noticed what looks like Rust on the inside of the cab roof???

I was hoping somebody would say something but nobody did, the area i'm talking about you can see they have wiped the dust off ...

I hope rusting isn't something to worry about with buying a new raptor.?

Don't Flame me LOL i want a Blue Raptor with the 6.2 so bad i can taste it,Im all for Performance,thats why i have the GM 6.2 Extra cab now,which i hope will be traded in on a Raptor

Can anybody confirm if thats Rust or Not? Thanks Later LF

It does look like rust, but might just be that the metal wasn't treated since it was a pre-production truck. Or maybe the school did something to cause it when they cut it up. Tough to say but i would'nt be worried about it over that picture, too many possibilitys.

I thought ANY truck that made it out the factory would follow the same dip and paint system ?

What Worries me is you would NOT know about this till it rusted through the top!

That Black stripe in the middle of the cab top looks to have a couple rust spots also :~( i wouldn't think the shop would have that kind of moisture problem ?

This is not to dog on Ford or the Raptor cause i like both! just surprised to see that on a 2000 + model truck... rust prevention has come a long way!
Quality of Metal has also greatly improved...

I dunno what to tell you. I know I wouldn't start a witch hunt over one inconclusive picture of a cut up pre-production truck. The Raptor gets the same green house as a regular, extended and now crew cab F150. I haven't heard of, or seen, one rust issue on any part of the F150 in the last eleven plus years.

Look at the multi-colored, pieced together Raptor in this video (at 3:00). I doubt it got the same treatment as a production truck.

With all the cutting and grinding they had to do to stuff that roll cage in - the dust spray of metal particles probably covered everything. Even though all the steel was originally dipped or plated - that dust would be raw steel. Add a little humidity and you have rust...

Looks like spray-glue and foam residue from the noise dampening insulation they ripped out. You can see on the painted areas too.

OK Sounds Good

Only way to solve this is have three or four of you guys pull your Head Liners and check the quality of the Paint on the cab Roof

I Guess i will have to buy one before i have to worry about anything Right?

That Blue s/c on the tailend of that car carrier is Sweet... I Really like The Blue!

Sounds like you need to be talking to Randy (HARLEY6LF250SDU) and Aaron (TeamFordRaptor)... they are both members here who have helped many people get a fair deal on a Raptor without a bunch of ******** in the process.

Thats My Biggest Problem :~( I Order a couple of trucks including the one i'm driving with the 6.2,and everytime i'm not happy with the panel "fitment"...is that a word LOL

I will have to look at my Raptor/truck on the lot before i buy it!

ALL the Big 3 Have This Problem Not just Ford or Gm,I've seen it on Dodge Also!

I Was thinking about Another Diesel... But The Panels on the New F250/350 trucks looks real bad in my area,ive checked several Lots From Florida to North Carolina Where i Hunt!

I Just Broke My Freaking Wrist this Last month In the Mountains :~( , So At 47 years of Age,its got me To Thinking What i want out of Life from this day Forth and i Know I Loved The 99 step side i had Best, Due to the short wheel base,It Was FUN to drive, so i'm Rethinking The Raptor... I Drove the 5.4 Soon as they got it at the Local Dealer last year and it Was OK But I'm a Power ***** And Love Performance...I Always Get the Most power avalible For the model i'm Buying :~)

I'm In North Florida ,Right on The Florida Georgia Line.....

They had a Blue 6.2 down the road a few months back that looked pretty good,but i'm still building up the "mad money" and will be looking to buy after tax time for sure...
I Don't Blow Smoke up Nobodys Arse ... when i walk on the car lot i will be ready to buy!

I Will have enough money to Put down To make the payments what i want! this is Not my first dance :~)

I hate to see people jerking the sales guys around when they know their not really gonna buy.... That guy has a family to feed also....

I want This Next truck To Be "The Truck"! Pay it off,and keep it for a While.i Just got My First GrandBaby :~) By My only Son and i want to Loosen up the money so i Can Spoil Him Rotten LOL

I Know for a Fact a Short wheel base Will Make Me Happy :~) Turn on a Dime!
