wrong. its the same transfer case..I don’t think the 2WD is available on the R, unlike the V6 Raptor. It was mentioned in an interview

Isn’t the Raptor lighter (600ish pounds) and running 4.10 gears? I don’t think 35’s vs 37’s is the only reason. Both are pretty evenly matched. This is neat. The TRX only wins because it had 35s instead of 37s. The R would beat the crap of the TRX off road.
The weird part is the Raptor can’t catch up from a dig but walked away from a roll. One would think the Raptor once moving would start gaining ground.Isn’t the Raptor lighter (600ish pounds) and running 4.10 gears? I don’t think 35’s vs 37’s is the only reason. Both are pretty evenly matched.
If the R isn't the realistic truck for 9/10 current raptor owners, why should it have been what the Gen 3 raptor was, period?? Ford sells trucks that people want, not just what competes with the TRX... The Ecoboost fits the truck for the application, and its a package that fits the most use cases with the least compromise. Crazy that people still think that the Raptor only needs to accelerate quicker than a TRX to be the better truck. Also, a level 2 TRX MSRP is 100k vs 109. If people really wanted TRX's that badly then they'd have the 50k markup. Except they don't.There shouldn’t be a Raptor R. Why? Because that’s what every Gen 3 Raptor should have been, period.
Ford chose to ignore the TRX, and stuck the Ecoboost into the Gen 3. That’s when I knew what my Gen 2 replacement would be. The R isn’t a realistic truck for 9/10 of current Raptor owners. And for those who do get one, how do you justify an extra $50k for a truck that at best (I’m being generous here), stays neck and neck with a much lower priced competitor?
As a Ford truck guy, I have no issue whatsoever admitting that the Raptor has been knocked off the 1st place podium. And I can’t wait for my TRX
I’m trying to say that if the Gen 3 Raptor had the 5.2 S/C V8 (no super exclusive R needed), the amount of Ford guys with Gen 2 Raptors (myself included) wouldn’t be buying a TRX.If the R isn't the realistic truck for 9/10 current raptor owners, why should it have been what the Gen 3 raptor was, period?? Agreed. But to be fair, Ford is competing with a hastily-built afterthought to a hastily-built afterthought … so it’s apples to apples. I’m happy to want neither. TTV6 is perfect for the stock suspension and unless you’re willing to tear up your warranty, the extra power is just an expensive waste. The R seems to be a hastily put together afterthought in response to RAM.
When the TRX debuted in 21, I would (I did actually) have the same thought. But if we’re being fair, the only thing that sucks on the TRX after being out for 2 years, is the low mile range due to the at best 10mpg it gets.Agreed. I think there are several variables here in play. 2wd in the R? Did the driver sandbag it, etc. More videos will come out and unless the R is reallyyy pulling power to save the transmission on a launch it should win these races. Over the next few months we will see all sorts of these head to head races posted.
