Unfortunately I'm old so I remember the first diesel by Ford and what a boat anchor it was. My point is when you design a motor from scratch or otherwise and you start squeezing every bit of horsepower and work that motor 110% all the time your going to have issues. Ford v6 turbo charged engines have issues. It's not perfect it will not run 500k miles just changing the oil. The blowby is now creeping up on them and they are having issues at 50k miles. Give me a v8 any day don't like can't stand the v6 and will not own one..
The engine is engineered for forced induction and it’s rated power output. That means it has to meet the same durability testing as your “V8”, or any other engine in an F-150. Your claim that the 3.5 runs “at 110% all the time” is absolutely ridiculous and shows that you don’t understand these engines nor do you have any experience with them. In the majority of driving the engine is under vacuum.

You’re making unsubstantiated claims that you can’t back up. There are no “blow by” issues at 50k miles, or 200k for that matter. Nobody is saying you need to like any particular engine, but making baseless statements only shows your ignorance.

I really don't think there will be a recession, it's just out of control price gouging everywhere, fueled by greedy billionaires and dirty politicians, it's the same up here, exactly! There are still lots of jobs available, one of the problems is lower income jobs are hard to fill with the price of transportation costs, food costs, etc. Those wages get increased and commodity prices increase, well, you get it.... This is where our Governments are failing us all.
The recession will come it is inevitable

Biden promised to end fossil fuels when he ran for president and a bunch of dead people voted for it. So yeah, it's coming. You can't fill a gas tank with pride flags or "I did that" stickers.

Ironically, the only thing that has gone down in price since 2020 is the "I did that" sticker, yet you see them everywhere. You can get 100 of them for $5, or so I am told.

I wasn't talking about chocolate bars either, hence the Exxon example. Gas companies are making money right now. For sure. I wouldn't be too surprised to hear of layoffs a couple years from now either. Energy industry has always been cyclical, and the good companies profit during the good times so they can make it through the leaner times. Honestly, I think these companies would much prefer a steady price so they can properly plan and control their long term investments, and appear reliable to investors, then high or low swings in prices. That seems to be the case for the various companies I've worked for/with.
Exxon’s response to our demented in chief. TL;DR? They’re investing like mad in new production, way more than profits. Why would they do that? The subtext I get is that they don’t see our reliance on fossil fuels going away any time soon. A windfall profits tax will directly affect investment. So I expect one. If you think gas is high now, hold Hunter’s crack pipe and watch this.

Correct. Nothing is really slowing down. Worth noting I think, much of the investments are to use more modern technology to be able to deliver products for cheaper and efficiently with lower environmental impacts.

Also worth noting that energy companies are starting to invest in solar and other technologies. They don't love oil, they are in the business of using their assets to turn a profit. In that regard, they aren't any different than Ford transitioning from ICE engines to EVs. They really don't care, as long as they don't have to take a bath on their long term investments.

I could be completely off, but I would guess that companies would just pay off debts early rather than pay a windfall tax. It generally would just cause them to invest less, take fewer risks and stagnate, slowing down economy and push closer to a recession. I don't know why anyone would want that.

^Yup.....if you select your boost gauge, you can, indeed, see this for a fact. Lots of vacuum time.
Problem with this statement. You fail to recognize that your pedal has to be to the floor (in boost) all the time to get this thing to move. If you are downhill, maybe not in boost! This community is here to tell you that the emmpeeegeeezzzz is not the ecoboost strong suit. It gets real world same or worse than a 6.2. In a typical tank, my 6.2 gets 17 mixed. My other 6.2 with cylinder deactivation gets 21, and my deleted diesel gets 22. Ecoboost in a car is good on empeeeegeezzz, but truck…. NO.

What if the RAPTOR R was a 5.0 ECOBOOST?
Absolutely not the case. Window stickers show and prove it is 5.2sc. Why would you want a turbo 5.0? It wasn’t designed for that long term. Boost lag would suck too. Turbo is good for a drag car with a floored/rev limited boost launch.

Oh I know it wont be a 5.0 Ecoboost and I know zero about combustible engine engineering. I only know how to make entertainment.
