on the run great... but in transit that channel gets busy so I am trying a different channel til we get there..

Interesting, only time I've noticed that was at Pismo during Huckfest. Other than that I've never had that problem during a run.

I pickup so much on weatherman while driving in the central valley it becomes irritating to listen too and everyone talks over everyone... it just becomes static....

Are the toys supposed to be wrapped or leave them un wrapped ?

The toys should be unwrapped.

We will be fine on the radio. We will be covering approximately 200 miles. If we have cross traffic with other users, it will only last for a few minutes and we will be out of their range.
