Short version.

The oil catch can separates oil vapors from the gasses that escape the engine through the crank case vent (PCV valve) during normal operation. For emission reasons these gasses are routed back into the intake track to be burned up in the combustion cycle. Since most stock engines don't utilize an oil separator the oily gases coat the throttle body & intake track leading to carbon buildup. The oil can also cause pre-ignition by reducing the effective octane of the gas.

There are allot of factors that effect how much oil vapor gets vented from the crank case but running at high rpm's is one of the worst. Adding the oil catch can prevent the possible damage that the oil vapor will cause.

Just to add.. When you are in offroad mode, banging off the limiter, compression breaking into the corners... There is a lot of crap (oil, moisture, etc) that goes back through the intake... Clogs the canister purge valve and causes it to fail..

Just a side note... The rubber on mine has already separated from the catch can.. Nothing a little extra glue can not fix...

Thanks Greg. I'm sold, just need to figure out which one I want. There is a possibility of F/I in my future so I may have to do the moroso even tho I like the jlt better

What it looks like is my mungo fists when unscrewing the catch can grabbed onto the rubber piece. Applying too much rotational force on the glues cohesive bond, cause it to shear off the rubber..

So either a larger amount of glue covering the whole bottom of catch can, to eliminate cohesive shearing of rubber. Or plastidip the lower part or the whole catch can to eliminate rubber cap all together...

Yes, I am hard on things... In the end, better products for fellow FRF members!

Ok. Just ordered 2 Black Base Kits. I ordered Base Kits because I want the separators to be mounted. Base Kits have no fittings though. Where would I find the plastic fitting on either side of the separator? Unless someone can point me to finding black anodized elbow fittings?

for the guys running the moroso are you collecting oil as fast as these guys with the JLT's? i just want to see if the moroso is as good as the JLT or close. i MAY go F/I one day and i like the moroso bracket but i rather have the JLT seperator since its proven, but if the moroso is proving to work well i am sold...
