GEN 1 Random "Trailer Disconnected" Message when towing a specific trailer

I could disconnect it. I could also wire it properly with a new trailer pigtail. For now, since it’s a new trailer still under warranty, I’m going to make the dealership wire it properly and see how that goes.

That's probably the smartest, should something else happen they can't fight you tooth and nail since they repaired it.

It's extremely odd it was wired to charge off the brake application circuit instead of the actual charging circuit though. My guess is that it was slightly overloading the trailer control module causing the issue.

Forgot to close out the trailer mystery. The problem was the charging circuit being tied into the brake. I made the dealership re-wire it properly (using 6 wires) and all is well. Turns out one thing that had me fooled was the charging light on the trailer. It wasn't actually charging. The light would blink yellow every couple seconds - I figured this meant charging since it had always done that. It's actually supposed to stay yellow. The blink was from the brake circuit pulse. The truck uses the brake circuit to detect the trailer. My assumption is that having the battery on that circuit would sometimes confuse the truck.
