I like the TRX. The thought of 700hp makes the 12 year old in me giggle. I still like my Raptor better as I believe the truck has been tested and proven. Ram is going to have to show the TRX can do more than beat the Raptor in a straight line drag test.

So much LoLz in this thread. Best part is Raptor owners deriding the TRX for its lack of class/refinement/provenance/whatever. Yeah, the Raptor is an exemplar of sophistication. While I admit that FCA products attract mouth-breathers disproportionately (especially anything with any type of performance pretensions), so do full-size domestic pickups in general, and your precious Raptors in particular. I think a lot of you realize that you won't have the coolest pickup on the market anymore and are having a little bit of heartburn about it.

I doubt it. As a Raptor owner, I have a natural interest to always know what’s going on in the market. I don’t know if the TRX is good or bad, there’s certainly things on and about it that cover the whole spectrum.
What I find pathetic is not the truck. I find the fact that “Easter egg” marketing works (and attracts) mainly those “mouth breathers” you referred to pathetic. If the TRX is going to be an amazing truck, you’ll buy it because of that, not because you’re trying to “overpower” a Raptor owner. But if it were for Ram, you’d buy because of just that, overpowering Raptors. And that’s just plain stupid as a consumer, manufacturer and automotive person.

I have to agree about competition. This is the kind of thing grown ass men should be swapping barbs over rather than the topics that dominate life in America of late.

And I would much rather have Dodge defacing their truck with schoolboy graffiti than watch another Prius commercial telling me that if I buy one I am a good person who cares about the planet. Dodge is our partner in keeping cool cars and trucks alive. Someday driving a Raptor will be a hate crime against the planet.

Competition is a good thing, it expands markets and drives technology forward at a much better pace than when there is no competition. But it's also Ok to talk sh*t about Dodge too. ;-)

I think it is cool that Dodge has a specialty truck. It is different, which will match some peoples preferences. I love my raptor. It feels light and quick. It is also perfect for off roading in baja. PERFECT. I wouldn't trade if for any other truck for that reason alone.

I have been running sections of the baja 1000/500/400 for a few decades now and my Raptor is so insane. I wonder how the TRX would compare in that type of off roading. Probably not that well. The Raptor was engineered for it. The TRX will out perform the Raptor in other areas for sure.

I hope the TRX is really good off road. We already know it is going to be fast in a straight line. Really fast, with a bitchin' supercharger whine. Motorsport racing/enthusiasm is better with multiple manufactures.

Toyota will never be there. I don't care how long they run. My 1983 moped still runs like a champ.

It’s hard to get that balance of having a big truck with a lot of power yet somehow getting it to feel “nimble”. I think Ford has pretty much nailed that feeling. I seriously doubt the TRX is going to pull that off. I see it being fast but heavy. Someone will have to post some driving impressions when they finally hit.

Toyota has the racing cred including a bunch of Baja wins with their TRD. If they ever did decide to truly go head to head with the Raptor category, then we’d have some serious and good direct competition. Kinda wonder why they haven’t competed in this sector since they’ve certainly done it for their race vehicles for years.
