You want to mount a tire up there, don't you?

Nope, want to put luggage up there, need to make space in the back seats for the mutt on the next trip. Its ok if its just me, but when there are 2 people it doesn't leave much room.

Any flex or is it pretty rigid?

We have a modular cross brace that fits beneath the rack now. There are guys who were bombin these through the desert and said the rack works awesome and couldn't be happier, but noticed a little bit of movement ( even with our supplied small support pieces) and some of the small plastic support pieces were breaking . So now we opted for a 1/8" thick custom formed slotted angle bracket that makes the rack incredibly strong .
