Pull it in a muffler shop and have them see what is the biggest muffler they can fit in place of the stocker. If you can find one 4" longer and it fits- it will be quieter than stock. Plenty of huge mufflers out there for the big V8 SUVs.

I wonder if swapping the resonator(s) out for better one(s) might help? I have heard very good things about these:

I'm running two of their normal bottle style resonators in the custom true dual system I have on my Gen 1. They are high quality and these appear to be even nicer.

What size pipes does the Gen 2 have on it? Does anyone have any pics of the system?

My brother's truck is tuned and has adapters and and high flow catted downpipes. It's a little loud and has some rasp to it even with the stock cat back. We are looking for ways to tone it down.

2.75" O.D. at the resonator, 3" O.D. at the exhaust tips. I wanted something easy, "off the shelf" I could try out in my garage, 3" stuff is readily available, had difficulty finding 2.75" stuff. The resonator and muffler are both dual in and dual out which complicates things for finding an easy bolt on or weld on solution there. It's difficult to find the "on center" measurements for a lot of mufflers online.

Now if you want to have something custom done at a muffler shop, I'm sure they could accommodate just about anything.

Got it. And yes, I understand the complexities! I went through this when I was trying to piece together a custom dual solution for my truck (with an x pipe) using off the shelf parts. I ended up just choosing the mufflers and resonators I liked and biting the bullet to get it all custom fitted. Definitely not a cheap option.

I'm going to stay tuned on this to see what you come up with. Hopefully there is an off the shelf muffler or resonator out there somewhere.

I’ll probably end up just adding a couple resonators inline right after the rear axle then adding some Borla 20248 exhaust tips (after coating them in black). I plan on leaving the stock resonators and mufflers alone.

I added one of these to my GEN 1 that had a black widow muffler and they do an amazing job. The exhaust used to rattle so many of the plastics in my truck on a cold start. Added one after the muffler and all the rattles went away and the booming exhaust note got toned down when I was lugging around in 6th gear going 45mph. It sounded like a well tuned exhaust note across the rpm range. I was blown away something so little could make such a big difference.

I am partial to the Corsa tips (they are available in black in various sizes and configurations). I would have just gone with angle cut pipes on my truck in its current form given that these are generally hidden from view but I already had them on hand.IMG_4553.JPG IMG_4552.JPG IMG_4551.JPG
