Bought a Gen 1 Screw that has a PRP quick release steering wheel. While it looks cool, its not safe since it doesn't have an airbag.

The buttons were relocated to a custom bezel and the airbag light is on (obviously).

does anyone know if a stock steering wheel would be plug and play? I think the PRP steering wheel has an adaptor but I cant find much online about the rest of the set up. Is the steering column the same?

My goal is to go back to stock.

What year is your Gen 1? The Steering wheels changed between years during the generation.

Probably the cheapest option would be to harvest a complete wheel from a wrecked Gen 1, or maybe now you have an excuse to go with a Gen 1/Gen 2 paddle version, hmmm?

Should I only buy 2010-2012 steering wheels then ?
If I remember correctly the 2011-2014 wheels are the same, the 2010 has fewer buttons since the front cluster is different and the 2010 transmission has it's own controller and does not allow for the electronic paddle shifters. Any year 2011-2014 wheel "should" work depending on what the previous owner did to fit the quick release wheel.

Just out of curiosity is that the only interior mod? As in are all other air bags intact? No roll cage or anything?

All other airbags Intact. No cage. I’d assume they’d go off if needed even though there is no driver airbag.. can anyone confirm? Otherwise I won’t drive it until I fix this

The airbags that are still in the vehicle should still deploy even with the driver airbag missing. I don't know for sure so I would confirm but the system doesn't get disabled by an airbag missing.
