Hello, today I was cleaning around my engine compartment, and noticed that my coolant reseravoir was low, and the color looked different than it used to be. My raptor has 28,000 miles, and the coolant has always been a nice pinkish color and clean. It is now rather brownish, and doesn't look as clear as it used to. I tested it by smelling a little bit on my finger, and it didn't smell burnt or oily. sooooo, wondering if this has happened to anybody else out there, and should I empty and flush it all out and replace with new coolant. I've had my truck since it was new, and I am always under the hood with a rag wiping things down after off roading and this is the first time I have noticed it. There has been no change in the operating temp on the gauges, but I did recently put a performance tune and a CAI on. Any advice is welcomed, Thanks

It should be orange.

This may sound stupid but pores in the plastic reservoir hold dirt and change the color of the housing

Thanks, I found out the problem when I took the time to investigate. Everything is ok, the coolant was so low that the black bottom was making appear a darker color LOL!!!! I dipped a rag into what little was left, and it was still orange. When i noticed it, I didn't have the time to really check it out and until I got the chance, my mind was messing with me.....been out in the desert running it pretty hard, and just need to fill the reservoir back to proper level...

Do Not use the OLD Green - Meaning the darker green antifreeze.
It has Silicate in it and may contain phosphate & borate.
It should disclose that in the ingredients. It is not compatible with today's engines.

Now, if you are talking about the lighter green antifreeze . . That Is Compatible.
But, does not have the Dex-Cool approval, because the Maker did not pay the royalty fee to get it 'Approved'
