Question about oil consumption test on a 2019.

So I dont see the new markings on my dipstick. Can you upload a picture? I got the TSB done but checked after 1k miles and I'm still down 1 quart.

They are supposed to mark it on the backside per TSB 19-2232 but my Dealership marked it on the front and it looked like a kid with a crayon did it because there are several chicken scratches on it but you can get a rough idea where the general location of the mark is.

I told my Service Advisor, have they never heard of a square and a scribe to make a simple straight single scribe line, not that one needs to get that precise but it would have apparently helped the person who marked it.

I'll try and post a picture tomorrow for you.

They apparently didn't follow TSB 19-2232. I'd talk to the Service Manager or maybe the owner as to why they can't follow Ford's TSB.

Better yet, you might be better off taking it to a better Dealership.

I have a 2019 SCREW bought in late October and now have 4500 miles on it. I have not had any oil consumption issues at all, has stayed full with no oil consumption so far. I will say though that the oil itself gets dirty and broken down very quickly in this engine. I changed first time at 1500 and now had to change again at 4000 as the oil was so dirty even after only a couple thousand miles on it

Dis you get an oil analysis done? You can’t really eyeball dirty oil, unless you see chucks in there or something.

2019, got 3500 miles. Checked it a few days ago and level was a little above the first hole. I added 3/4+ of a quart of oil and brought it right up to the top of the hatch mark.

I checked the oil a month ago and level was perfect at top mark from the factory. I believe I was at about 3K miles.

So apparently mine was good for 3K miles then suddenly decided to use a quart in the last 500 miles. All normal driving (no racing, no offroad, no nuthin').

I have heard of oil consumption in this engine and the manual even states that it's ideally possible to use this amount of oil within 5K miles. From the 2019 Raptor supplemental:

"
You can drive high performance vehicles
in such a way that may lead to higher oil
consumption this includes extended time
at high engine speeds, high loads, engine
braking, hard cornering maneuvers, track
and off-road usage. Under these
conditions, oil consumption of
approximately 1 quart per 500 miles (1 liter
per 800 km) is possible. As a result, you
need to check the engine oil level at every
refueling and adjust to maintain proper
levels to avoid engine damage."

However, I hardly drive in any of the above conditions. So, for now, I'll blame it on a new engine. If I'm down a quart in the next 500 miles, I'll suspect a leak.

It is not from a "leak". I can't remember, but was yours before or after the valve cover cutoff date? These engines should not be using any noticeable amount of oil.

I haven't seen any thread(s) on a valve cover cutoff nor does a search result in any threads that I can find.

You are contradicting yourself. If it's not a leak, and the engine shouldn't be using a noticeable amount of oil, what are you referring to?

It's either one or the other.

The oil consumption is a TSB from ford. There are faulty valve covers that allow oil passing:

This is not a leak.

My statement regarding oil consumption in general was with regard to ever accepting anything noticeable as far as loss. Whatever the root cause, any oil consumption of a noticeable amount is unacceptable.

Same happen to me. Suddenly, after 6000 km and the first oil change, my car used 0.75 l oil in about 1300 km...
