A $40 oil filter that's ungodly overkill for a PS system, who knows how much that adaptor costs, whatever kind of mount would have to be designed and engineered, and oh yeah there's really no very good place to hang that thing. That's not an option, or at least it's not a very good one.

If you'd have read my post at the bottom of the first page, you'd have seen that I've identified my solution. It meets the Occam's Razor test, costs only $10, and is a no-brainer to use.

Oh, don't be silly. Using a full sized oil filter in a PS system that doesn't even contain two quarts doesn't make much sense at all, not to mention the cost involved, the need to change $40 filters periodically, and the difficulty (perhaps impossibility) of finding a place to hang it anywhere near the other PS components.

Ideas must be evaluated, it's a simple as that. My evaluation is directed at the idea, not the person advancing it. I called no names. I criticized only the idea, and did so only on its merits. What else? Lie? Say, "Oh that's a wonderful idea," and perhaps encourage others to spend their money unwisely? Of what practical use is this forum if we're so politically correct that we can't have an honest exchange of ideas?

I would add that deleting the photo of the idea being discussed makes the thread poorer, baffling to those who didn't see the picture, and makes the discussion impossible to understand. I would ask that you repost the photo, JV.

Richard at Dimple Motor Oil Magnets (MAGNETIC DRAIN PLUGS) sent me a doughnut-shaped magnet that's about an inch in overall diameter. I addeded a loop of stainless steel safety wire, and put it in the power steering reservoir so that it rests on the screen and the wire loop is within easy reach of the reservoir opening. See photos. I do not have the part number, but Richard describes it as the special magnet he uses for the Vespa oil plug. Cost = $10.00. See Richard at Dimple, and he'll take care of you.

I've only got 400 or so miles on it since I put the magnet in the reservoir, but I've been thinking of checking it. It wont' be much - it can't be. I drain and refill the reservoir with fresh fluid every time I do an oil change. I'll do it today and post a photo.
