Mine broke as well. I had it mounted horizontally. Just too much weight. I bought a new one and augmented it with some stainless I had laying around. Seems to help but I still keep an eye on it. Vertical mount is probably the safe bet.

I saw on the Power Tank instructions that reg would be damaged if liquid got into it. If valve is closed laying horizontally is OK?

Yeah if you have it stored at an angle or sideways as long as it is “closed” it will be fine. Just before you use it, set it upright and do not use for at least 30 seconds.

Yep, bringing yet another old thread back up.

I am looking at getting a 10 pound CO2 tank from my local welding supply shop that has an exchange program. No need to hydra test this way. But a have a few questions...

What and where did you get the mounting bracket? I have the Builtrite panels on order and will mount up and down as recommended earlier in this thread.

What regulator set up are you using to fill tires?

This is the setup I went with as I don't have any intention on getting a cover (for now). Aluminum Scuba STA (Single Tank Adapter) with dual tank bands; ran me about $100 or so. I had to cut the stainless bolts that come with it as well as drill a new hole for better placement on the builtright panel. You can also see in the picture that I added a rubber bumper in the top left corner to minimize any movement (purchased from Lowes). For me this setup works cuz I can take my steel 100 to the beach for a dive and it won't move around on me. I bought my c02 tank from Preece Precision, but I haven't used it yet.

The Builtright rack broke. Pic #1 is the day I mounted. The rest are after 3 off road runs. I took it off and welded it. I am going to mount on the same rack, but straight up and down with the base on the bed to take the weight off

I have mine mounted upright with the base on the truck bed. From the research I did, the tank is too heavy to go unsupported.

Binging up an old thread yet again hoping that's given people time to test some stuff out. Can anyone give their current opinion on the best way to mount these things with a BuiltRight system that will stay strong offroad?

Is it upright on a rear bedside rack like ya'll are discussing up top^ or would it be onto a MOLLE panel attached to BuiltRight's bulkhead accessory rail? The rail has less anchor points than the bedside racks but it's so much closer to the trucks CG being at the front of the bed so the thought was that the tank would be bouncing around significantly less. Thoughts?
