Sorry, I'm new here, first post. I apologize if this has been answered. I bought my 2013 raptor with power running boards already installed. I've seen some other F150s have a manual override for the running boards in the dash computer under settings>vehicle>pwr running boards. I don't have this option in my truck. I was told maybe it's only available for Lariats and King Ranch but I'm not sure. It's the same computer, not sure why it can't be added. Anyone know about this? Would be nice to set my boards down in parking lots.

Welcome and congratulations.

Sounds like you had different side steps added by the dealer. Theses are not factory, and there for wouldn't have the same options. However, you could ask them to add an override switch somehow, possibly a separate switch.

Are you selling your stock boards?

I don't have the stock running boards. I bought it used (7,500 miles) from a dealer already upgraded. The dealership actually did the custom upgrades (running boards, wheels, exhaust, paint, etc.) before it was sold new. I'm trying to figure out if they can add the running board option in the dash computer.

Which makes me wonder, if they can add that, what else can be added to the dash computer...

A downside to having the retracting running boards is that you don't have protection from rocks getting kicked up from the tires.

if they are amps (which i have) i'm not aware of being able to add a switch to disable them. if you are concerned about the rocks kicking up, maybe a wrap or clear bra in that area. or, you can pull the amps and sell them, then buy yourself a set of raptor take offs. might be a better route.

I like the idea of a clear cover or wrap at the bottom of the doors. I was thinking about that.

Welcome! I would like to see some pictures of all the custom work of which you speak. :) I don't think I have ever seen power running boards on a Raptor.

Pretty much looks exactly like this, just a different style of black wheels

Perfect time to upgrade the boards to something that can take a hit. I can't seem to find it now, but I swear I just saw someone had some fab'd up that would weld to the actual frame instead of just the body.
