Have an 18 with just about 14k miles on it. Over the last few thousand miles I noticed when I put the truck in drive it almost likes bangs into gear and the truck lurches forward quite hard. It does it when the truck is cold or warm so I know that's not the issue.

Plan on taking to the dealer just curious if anyone else on here ran into it. Other than that the truck seems to shift fine, but definitely how harsh it goes into drive isnt normal. Kind of feels like getting rear ended at about 2-3mph.

I had that same issue with my explorer. The transmission ended up being replaced.

TCM updates come out every 30 days or so, one that I know of triggered a TSB. Id just take it to the dealer and have them flash the TCM to the latest.

Mine did that twice. The first time it made me pretty nervous, the second time the whole tranny took a dump. Been at the dealership for about 4&1/2 weeks now waiting on the tranny rebuild. The sprag was broken as well. I'd be curious to know what your TCM program is to compare it to the one I have and see if they are the same. I had just recently had mine updated. Mine is an 18 as well with just over 15K miles. The rear end locked up as I pulled to the side of the highway and they had to drag it onto the flatbed wrecker.

Mine was doing that also. It was also rough when slowing down and the transmission would go into 3rd. Took it to the dealership and they flashed with new software and its drives like a dream!!!!! BTW 17 with 14k miles.
