The DORA will show up sometime mid-August is my guess. Stoner is just making sure that you don't get the high hard one in the event there is a conflict with the order.

That's the same thing Zane posted. It's just a build sheet. If you look in the bottom left it says "Press F4 to submit". That means it hasn't been submitted yet. They are building and storing these orders until the order banks open in Aug. So you pay them $1000 without the order being approved or accepted from Ford. Do what you want, it's your money but I don't typically like to give people money without guarantees.

What bstoner59 is talking about is you should be getting a DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement). IIRC, it might take some time to get from Ford but that's how you know Ford has accepted the order.

What can cause a conflict?

Ford pushing back the order date to December or you not getting an order pulled until Jan-Feb. maybe the dealer can't get their hands on all the trucks they took deposits on and you get left with no way to order one? I've seen all this happen the first go round...just looking out. I kind of know what I'm talking about contrary to Zanetards comments

And I'm tryin to get some numbers of my own for the wife's new ride and my dealer homies are telling me there is no orders being taken on them. If we can get some solid info we can go to the rep and show them what the other dealers are doing. Bad communication on Fords part.

Stoner knows what he's talking about. I would take his advice Zane, guy just bought a couple gt350's not too long ago and If they could place an order for him they would've done so.

I hear ya. The FACT is that there are NO orders being taken by Ford at this time. You can build one, sure, you can even get a piece of paper saying what you want to buy, but it cannot be submitted right now.

And you are exactly correct in giving the advice not to put money down right now. The dealers are just asking for it. You can say no and still submit your wants. If they say you can't, they are lying. I just sat down with my dealer (yeah - I've said this before - bought 12 vehicles from him over the last few years) and we ghost built a '17. Went to place the order and the system isn't accepting them yet. I asked him if he would require a deposit from someone actually wanting to order one and he said that is crazy. It happens, sure, but the dealers are just using your money to pad their accounts until they actually have to use it.

And there is a risk of the order not being accepted right away.

Put your deposit money in the bank. It's safer there. If you need it, you can get to it. Once that dealer has it and you ask for it back for some reason, it's gonna take at least 60 days to get it......

Order banks are open. Ford will send confirmation after they schedule production, which is supposed to be in August. You can wait, but you'll just be that much further back in line if you do. There are reasons to wait, of course - better price maybe, not wanting one of the first trucks off the line, less time that your deposit is tied up, etc - but insecurity over the ordering process shouldn't be among them.

This is gospel right here. Anyone remember Redlands Ford back in the day? Sure, they hooked up a lot of people with $500 over Invoice but they also left plenty of people waiting 6-12 months after "ordering" (with deposits mind you) only to find out that their "order" will never be pulled.

That entirely depends on the dealer though and doesn't have anything to do with the ordering process. If a dealer doesn't turn a lot of vehicles, they aren't going to get a large allotment. Remember that every vehicle is allotted, it's not special to raptors. So you can get into trouble if a dealer who normally has a small allotment suddenly takes a ton of orders for a particular truck.

But that doesn't have anything to do with having your order 'accepted'. Ford will accept all the orders they get, and in the case of the raptor, will be given a 'hold' status until scheduling. After scheduling, they'll allot the vehicles. So you can get a DORA and still be screwed if you picked the wrong dealer. But no one will get a build date, VIN, or anything like that until later in the process and there's no guarantee to build either - even if you have the DORA.

And no one is going to get a DORA when they put down their deposit. It takes Ford at least a day to process the order and send the DORA to the dealer. I suppose a dealer might place the order and then have you come back later to give them the deposit, but honestly I don't see that happening.

Anyway, long way to say that all this FUD is technically correct. But still FUD.

My dealer said while they will take an order- they do not have the ability to submit it yet and stated they will keep their eyes on it and contact me when it does open up.
