I didn't realize ford offered a stock v8 supercharged engine. My bad.

It's been a while now, but yea, the SVT Lightnings were awesome trucks. Massive torque at all RPMs and throttle positions. It's too bad Ford gave up on the supercharged V8 truck idea.

You shouldn't feel too bad a that a 15 year old supercharged V8 steel truck will outrun your new aluminum bodied turbo V6- it's just a 2WD reg cab afterall. They don't do very well offload. They are great at the mall though!

I was being facetious. Talking about now. We aren't talking about what ifs. This truck wasn't made for a street racer. Get a car if you want that. Lol. Trust me, I would never want a lightning.

It's okay though, you clearly just want to rag on a v6. I however will enjoy the most badass stock offroad capable truck ever created.

So why all the torque curve talk if it's not supposed to be fast?

Never said not fast. Sigh. You are like msnbc picking and choosing words.

If you don't understand need for torque for an offroad vehicle, racing or not, you can just stop replying now.

It hasn't been that long...2014 GT50O with its blown 5.8L pushing 662/631.

Just saying.

He shouldn't feel bad, G2 Raptor runs the same 1/4 miles as the G2 Lightning going off magazine times, although I remember some L's ran mid 13s in perfect conditions. If anything it's impressive that a big ass off-road truck can hang with what was considered reasonably fast 15 years ago. More than the G1 can say. The Lightning made lots of sweet blower whine and good torque off bottom but it ran out of steam on the top end, also heat soaked after a run or two. I'd rather have the 6.2L than that engine in a Raptor.

Don't forget the Harley Davidson F150 was a 2wd quad cab and was Eaton supercharged with the Lightning engine. They were more like low 14's trucks, but pretty cool nonetheless.

This whole business of having a truck that can do essentially anything, and be seriously quick, and get good mileage when you want is what makes me excited about current downsized turbo engines. It would have been cooler Ford could put cylinder deactivation and went aluminum block on the old 6.2L but that's not what they did. You guys can bitch and moan as the world moves on.

I find it odd to come to an enthusiast site and see so much negativity for the vehicle the site is for...
This happens with every forum every time a new generation is released. Just wade through the ******** for a while as people adapt and enjoy your new truck. I'd be the first to admit it if the new engine was a downgrade as I'm a V8 person at heart, but it kicks ass.
