Here are the options Ford had to choose from and I think they made the right choice. Ya'll ought to be excited that Ford is putting a performance tuned version of this engine in the Raptor.

6.2L V8
411 hp @ 5,500 rpm
Torque:
434 lb-ft @ 4,500 rpm

3.5L V6 II
~450 hp @ ~5,500 rpm
Torque:
~470 lb-ft @ ~ 1,700 rpm

Raj Nair already stated the Raptor will be at least 450 hp.

If you want sound, buy a boom box and play sucky HEMI sounds out the rear window and take pictures of your friends smiling.

I will take performance, regardless of how it sounds. If you don't like it don't buy one, go get yourself a dodge "Power Wagon."

Why would I trade down from the sounds I already have?

And interestingly, there will be V8 sounds being played from your speakers right from the factory. So there you go :)

Why don't you both meet each other at TRR17 and see who can go around the 42 mile track the quickest.
But if @20psirabbit is talking a street race, who cares....

Yeah, I didn't even bother pointing out all the reasons these arguments are silly. Not the least of which being that high performance off road trucks are built for enthusiasts and enthusiasts overwhelmingly prefer larger engines, as is evidenced by this poll and further evidenced by the absolute dearth of performance vehicle offerings from any/all manufacturers with turbo V6s. Compared of course to the very large number of performance cars and trucks with V8s and up.

And of course, yes, there's all the issues with turbos and offroad.

Anyway, they are cool trucks and it shouldn't bother you new guys that they aren't for everybody. If you like it, that's all that matters, right? I personally couldn't care less what anybody thinks of my dinosaur.

I don't get the whole "my truck will beat your truck off the line" argument. These aren't drag cars! And if we want a V8, what's wrong with that? I'd bet a dollar to a dime, if Ford WOULD offer a TTV8, that 75% of buyers would choose that over the TTV6. NOBODY buys these types of vehicles for the gas mileage.

I'm sure the TTV6 will be a great power plant, but you have to respect the doubt that some of us have for a whole new engine/transmission combination in the trucks that we have been driving for the last 6 years.

I just get a kick out of some of the guys that have ZERO experience with either a Raptor or the new TTV6/Transmission saying that this mystical Gen2 is gonna be so badass that the Gen1's are gonna be obsolete. To those guys I say - **** OFF. To the ones that are quietly sitting back and waiting for anything substantial coming from Ford related to hp and torque - to those guys I say bravo.

That's my $.02 for the guys that have crawled out from under a rock and actually doubled their post counts in the last few hours......

This poll actually indicates that over 90% would choose the V8 :)

Thats because anyone would choose "bigger" in any poll for the most part.

Poll: Would you rather have a ttv8 or ttv10? People would choose ttv10 because its bigger.

Poll: Would you rather have fox 3.0s or fox 2.5s? People would choose 3.0s because they are bigger.

Poll: Would you rather have a cheeseburger or a double cheeseburger? More people would choose the double cheeseburger.

Poll: Would you rather have a 500gb harddrive or a 1tb hardrive? People will choose 1tb because its bigger.

Poll: Would you rather have a 47" flat screen tv or a 60" flat screen tv? People will choose the 60".

See the pattern?

America = bigger is better so these polls are pretty useless.

You've come to the wrong conclusion.

The polls are strongly indicative of the preferences and purchasing habits of the target market. You know, the kind of people who would actually buy a giant pickup truck to go off roading in.
