Pocket lighting plan

Here is my current plan for the front facing lighting on the truck

[Baja Designs] Squadron SAE Wide Cornering | Amber
[Baja Designs] Squadron Pro Spot | Amber

One for each fog light pocket. Wire the two SAE lights into a single harness and then the two spot lights into a different harness. I want to keep the street legal lights on a dedicated switch.

In the future I want to add a center light bar for the driving/combo pattern. I have no current plan for the 4th switch.

Curious if anyone has run anything like this or has had experience with a similar setup. Open to feedback? Also what to do with that fourth switch???

I run 2 spot kc lights off one switch, I run 2 flood kc lights off one switch, thats for the front. I run 2 BD floods in the rear bumper on the 3 rd switch. Saving my 4th for when I run fog lights eventually. You could run some back up lights in the rear with your 4th switch.

I found the spot lenses on my BD lights in that location didn't do so well being so low. I ordered a set of wide cornering lenses to replace them. If I ever want distance in the future, I'll go with pillar mounts or something in the grill. I also have another set of SAE ambers on a separate switch. I really like the ability to run SAE only or both.

I just went a simular route - Baja S1 wide amber, DD SS3 Pro driving selective yellow SAE (should have gone fog), DD SS3 Pro Spot selective yellow. Next on the list is a lower behind the grill ONx6 white Spot and Driving. Each light on a dedicated switch.

I'm running amber Squadron SAEs and treat them as running lights that I almost always have on, a pair of amber Squadron Pro driving combo and a set of clear Squadron Pro spot. But I have the luxury of space for one extra set of lights with my gen 2. To me, the SAEs serve to make me more visible, not so much putting usable light on the road (plus I like the way they look). While the SAEs put more light on the road than any OEM equipped fog light I've used, it's still not much actual usable light. I treat my other two sets as brights and use them on back roads without oncoming traffic. On a clear night, where I can utilize both the clear spot and amber driving combo, I am hard pressed to be able to see my auto high beams cycle on and off. I find the amber driving combo very helpful in fog and rain but the clear spots just reflect too much light back at me to be useful in those situations. Would it make a difference if they were amber like you plan to get, possibly. If you're set on the SAEs, I'd suggest you spend the extra $15 and get a set of amber driving combo lenses to compare the differences with the amber spots. If you're not set in the SAEs, is recommend an amber driving combo or wide cornering and a clear spot. But keep in mind the Squadron Pros are definitely way too bright to use with oncoming traffic. Hope this helps...

@No Brakes , I see that you live in Oregon. If you live far enough north that you get freezing fog, sleet, or snow, you might want to reconsider the lights you put down low. Fog lights, for example, tend to get sprayed with frozen or freezing junk from the vehicles on the road in front of you and those passing you in the opposite direction. LED lights are so efficient that they do not get warm enough to self-defrost. Old school halogen fog lights do.

Thanks for the feedback, extremely helpful. @RotorHead695 good note about the spot location and @Ruger about the use case. Makes sense that you would try to keep the distance lighting higher on the ride.
Clearly I need to look into the pocket lighting options a little deeper :hmmm2:

I want to be able to run street legal lights down low primarily to cut through winter weather conditions on road. Fogs definitely help when it's puking snow. However, plan A seems to have holes.

Back to the lab :fuckyea:

I have the SAE sport light kit, In all clear. #1 SAE clear #2 spot clear #3 fog clear.
I have been plenty happy with them. The install was very easy.
