Looks good. I have been thinking about doing this also. How many cans did it take? Did you put an overspray guard behind the grill or just spray as is?

Seems like the plasti-dip is popular with the guys here and the OPs ride looks nice the way he did it....kudos. I think I'm going the Herculiner route on my bed, flares, and possible bumpers and skid plate. I had a truck that I did entirely with Herculiner and it outlasted the truck.

I've been looking at this too but was worried that random rocks would chip the grill and make it look like a ricer.

Awesome!

How well do you think those flares would handle some good old fashioned cacti? Desert pinstriping is a fact of life where I run, so if I did something like this whatever I went with would have to be able to take a beating. Do ya think PlastiDip would hold up?

I did the rear bumper before the rest as a test, and I think it will hold up fine. I havent had it in any real cacti yet, but I have had it in scotch bloom which is nearly as abrasive. Also had some contact with small alder trees on the side of a road and it didnt leave a mark. So far it hasnt shown any rock chips on the rear flares either, which was a huge problem with the stock flares/paint. I use it pretty hard offroad, especially in sand, and the rear bumper hasnt shown any wears or peeling. Even on the drivers side where I messed it up and peeled it when pulling the tape it hasnt gotten any worse. Pretty awesome stuff.

I think I used about 5 cans doing everything and its pretty heavy on the skid/rear flares

I've done my blue Raptor about the same as OP has: bumpers, skid plate, flares, reflectors, wheels, wheel wells, and rear Ford emblem. So far everything has held up pretty well. Rock chips aren't an issue. It works pretty well as protection against rocks. Rubbing or scraping, especially along an edge will cause it to peel. Touch ups are easy but they are usually pretty easy to see where it was done.

One thing I did learn from doing the rear emblem and the flares was how to properly mask for this stuff. Overspray really isn't that big of an issue since you can just peel or rub it off. It is a little easier to mask though and avoid getting the little flecks of overspray that can be hard to find if you have a darker colored truck. Instead of trying to mask right next to what you're spraying like on the flares and emblem, you should leave a 1 or 2 inch gap around them. The overspray there will be thick enough that you can peel it off in a sheet and it won't disturb the part that you wanted covered. If you do try to mask right next to the emblem or flares, when you pull the masking off it will start to peel off the part you wanted covered.

^ yes.
So many people on YouTube I've seen try and mask only the part they want sprayed.
This stuff will cut itself on edges and small gaps between parts. So mask an area around it do you can get that super clean trim line.
You'll never get a cleaner masking line by trying to mask only the part you want spraye.

I plasticdip my 2009 Honda FIT on hood, roof and hatch for over a year now. It holds up every well even in the Winter. My FIT is low but the platicdip helps protect my hood as well.

I'm about to head up to the parts store now for some dip. Doing my rear fender wells. How did you guys mask off for the rear shocks not to get over-sprayed, ect....?
