Just curious, does the screen brighten and dim based on ambient lighting like stock? Is is easy to dim manually?

What functionality *is* there without a wifi hot spot? Not keen on spending $30/mo on service.

I could always use my phone as a wifi hot spot I suppose, but it sounds like that would be a pain, right? I'd have to set it up EVERY time.

Hi how is the load up time ? Does it take forever to boot up ? Causing a delay in the backup camera to load on screen ? I like to start the car throw it in reverse and bounce. Is there a lag now due to the tablet ?

The load time is approximately 3 seconds from the time you press start.

Back up camera is available instantly.

It is up to you what you want to spend your money on in terms of a hot spot. For me, it made sense to have something dedicated in the truck.

If 30 bucks a month isn’t your bag, I’d go so far as to also say, why spend 600 on something you don’t need?

I lose more than 30 bucks a week on just tips for take out drivers. It’s not all that, but we all have different ideas of what constitutes value.

So on longer trips with a passenger, it’s not a big deal to fire up one of our phone’s WiFi hot spots. Short trip in the morning to work without WiFi, is there anything interesting this would do? (I can’t think of anything)

Even if it’s just displaying engine information or something. Also, simply LOOKING better with a nice sheet of glass vs the plastic trim is something I look forward to.

Mainly was just curious what (if anything) you can do without WiFi.

Edit: I’m slightly worried I will miss the tactile volume knob. The aluminum knob and the clicks.... it’s satisfying. Do you miss it?

Still waiting to see something other than the Raptor pic at the bottom. This is the biggest issue for me. Really they should have just rescaled the sync pass through to utilize the entire screen. I feel like most people would want the sync screen up the majority of of the time as opposed to an Android app... which seems to only be accompanied by the Raptor pic.

I am an audio guy.

The streaming direct from tablet to my dsr1 and amps is a major upgrade over CarPlay streaming in terms of audio quality.

Real-time traffic and Waze depend on it as well. YouTube is great for waiting. Netflix et al works.

That being said, no you don’t need WiFi as a built in hotspot. With even no WiFi the functionality is that of sync3.

Knobs. I don’t miss much. A little. But I’m so blown away that it’s worth the sacrifice

Quite the contrary.

I’m finding that sync 3 at this point is almost completely an afterthought. Higher quality audio with a greater selection is available to me directly from the tablet.

I am RARELY bringing up the sync console at this point.

There is no way to scale the sync screen to the whole tablet. The sync screen is literally PASSED thru to the tablet. The image is the same size and location as stock. The image is produced by the sync brain and they aren’t altering that in any way. It would be like going to a movie theatre and trying to get the projector to display a different size on the screen when the door to the projectionist room is locked.

They have plans for that empty space. It’s where the additional virtual buttons are headed I think.

It doesn’t bother me, but I have a white raptor that looks exactly like the picture.

Just looking for the obvious appearance upgrade, but with more of an OEM feel.
