Mid Perch done but Dealer has no clue

Had the Mid Perch mod done today at my local Ford dealer. They called me this afternoon with the old good new / bad news. Perch adjustment went fine but they found all 4 ball joints are shot and all four brake rotors are warped and need to be turned or replaced. Also the Struts as they call them (front shocks) failed the Jounce test and need to be replaced.

They said it is all covered under warranty but didn't have the parts in so I will have to wait until the parts arrive. Funny thing is I said you just told me the shocks need to be replaced but you adjusted them anyways now you will just have to adjust them again lol. I don't think there is anything actually wrong with the shocks but if they are dumb enough to replace them under warranty go for it.

Love the mid perch adjustment so far rides much nicer.

Hate to be a ****, but these aren't coilovers, they are just internally bypassed large Fox struts. I suppose its literally still a coil over a shock but its not a true coilover.

Adjusting your own shocks is easy guys!!! Get two or three of ya make a party of it.

Yes these are coil overs. I guess you need a lesson in suspension geometry. The coil is not located inside or outside the shock. It is a coil over...like you said in your last statement. Thanks for your pointless input. It would be a much better job if its done with 3 compressors...the two that i had on the coil were bending to the point that i thought it could become plastic deformation so i stopped. Going to use 3 compressors next time.

goin ******* on ur ass
Guys,

I think the time has come I make one of my video's. You can do both sides in under 45min with a floor jack, wrench, flathead screw driver, allen wrench, socket, spring compressors's and tie-down strap all by yourself in your own drive-way.

I think I will do this tomorrow or Saturday.

Since LiL J's post there has been a slight mishap that might delay this video. For details view RPG section in vendors area." I damn near lost my finger"

I must warn you it's a little scary and funny all together.

I should have made a video of this last Friday when we did the white raptors. If anyone is in doubt about doing the perch mod while on the truck DONT! Take it off the truck it is easier and faster hands down. Plus if the shocks have been on the truck very long and if its been dirty before you will want to clean the shock off so the blue SVT block can slide easily and so that you can clean off the clip ring so it sits in the notch 100% with out crap in the way. I can tell you cleaning the shock off probably takes a fair amount of time for me, but makes me know 100% its done correctly and won't have to revisit.

So were you not obviously aware of having warped rotors? Or they just "Told" you that they were warped?

How many miles are on your truck? Unless you're severely abusive, I don't see the stock ball joints failing anywhere under the 30k mi mark unless you're constantly pounding on it every day.

I've got 87K hard miles on my lower ball joints, they are still in great shape.

Sounds like the dealer is just trying to meet some service goals for the month, and since Ford is footing the bill, its easy to tell you that it needs to be done.

Jounce test, never heard of a dealer doing something like that.

I'm just about to do this mod pretty pumepd... If Ford is willing to give you new **** on your truck because it is "failing test" I would have them do what ever they want! Also did they make you pay for your original perch move?
