So Kal
at least attempt to do it your self. I would hate to see you spend that much money on something you can do for free.

I'll put this in for the mechanically declined, what's a finger worth ? With the front of a Raptor weighing in at about 4,000 lbs one slip of those cheap spring compressors and it could be bad. Those "rental" spring compressors are for cars not Raptors. Just a safety caution :Grenade:

ask em what it costs for labor only to R&R both front coil overs? I think at my dealer it was like 2 hours, maybe 3 and that included the alignment. took em all friggin day (start at 11, break for lunch at 11:45, start again at 2, finish by 3... lol

They have pricing for all parts R&R.... they need to hook ya up..

BigBird. I replaced the front shocks on my FX4 with new Bilstiens, they have the same perch set up as the Fox shock with three rings to choose. The process is simple and took me about 2 hours on the first side and an hour on the second (i learned.) Anyway my point is I purchased a spring compressor from the local Pep boys for $40. I would agree that was the scariest part, compressing the full sized truck springs. In fact I had to use my impact wrench to get enough torque on them to compress. I could physically see the long bolts bending on the spring compressor. It was a negative pucker factor moment and I could not wait to get the shocks back together. In the end I was happy about the job and gald i did it my self, however I think if I were to do it again I might pull the shocks and take them to a shop for the compression part. I would have to think they would be able to do that part pretty easily and for pretty cheep. Then you could do all the fun stuff in the driveway, save some cash as well as get to know your truck. Plus there isnt anything better than standing back and seeing the fruits of your labor with an ICE cold beer!

Ok, I would like to do this mod myself. I asked BigJ about the torque specs for front suspension and he was kind enough to send me the following diagram (thank you). The question I have is about the lower main bolt. According to the diagram this bolt should be tightened to 406 ft-lbs. Now this is an aluminum bolt/nut? attached to an aluminum control arm. Could this be a typo or is it the correct torque?

Not an aluminum bolt. It isn't hard to pull the front end apart. If you do the perch, pull the shocks, dont try to use those ****** compressors in place. Torque spec for lower bolt, equals grab a handful of poop on the impact and call it good.

150 lbs of force on a 3 foot cheater pipe equals 450 foot lbs of torque. That'll get you close.

I would like to do this mod myself too but im really chickening out. Im not very mechanically enclined and I dont want to "lose a finger" per say. Nothing I like more than working on my own truck just dont feel comfortable with stuff like that.

I agree, I can do about anything on my Raptor. After looking at the spring compressors for rent and sale locally. I rather spend a little more, and have someone else do it.
