While driving on freeway today, had just parking lights on d/t light snow, I notice the Nav screen suddenly gets brighter (like when lights are turned off) and speedometer lighting goes out. Nothing else changed. Tried turning lights off/on and Nav screen stays bright and no speedometer backlight. Left light switch in on position and within a couple of minutes the Nav screen dims and speedo light back on. Weird. Wondering if anyone else has had anything similar happen. First thought is some kind of loose connection. I have a 2010 SCAB and the only electrical work that has been done to the truck is Viper alarm that was put in about a month back. Everything with that works as it should. Just from experience know that things like this usually don't just go away and get better by themselves but with the sophisticated electronics on our trucks curious if it could be like a bug in the system???

The sensor for the instrument panel lights is pretty sensitive. On overcast days here my lights on the panel are always switching on and off. I'm thinking black electrical tape over that sensor should solve the problem :waytogo:

You should change the light delay time

+1. I hope you're not having real issues, but I've sen this on my truck. Did the parking lights actually cut out, or did you just see your instrument cluster dim/brighten like on auto adjust? You can adjust the delay and dimmer settings for your nav/instrument cluster to fine tune it not to do that...unless you REALLY are losing your parking lights.

Good luck.

For the instrument panel lights? How do I do that? My Nav is set to night mode.

Yes, your instrument panel lights are based off your headlights/parking lights. It's in under settings of the LCD screen in your gauge cluster. Not sure since my parents didn't let me take the truck to school yet but I'm sure someone will give you better instructions.

Lance V. you did have an ordeal! Glad to hear that it sounds like it's all good now. I think you nailed it Deadeye. I've never had the Nav/instrument lights switch like that when driving and didn't even know that the truck did this automatically. Checked third brake light to be sure and it's dry. Thanks for the help guys.
