Panorama Sun Roof Squeaking

I have an 18 with the pano roof. love the roof but the squeaking is killing me. Told my dealer service guy about it and he didn't have any other customers report the problem. Frankly I am not interested in being the guinea pig on the fix....anyone have this issue and any input on a fix?

I find that when it gets bad, if I open and close the roof it diminishes for some time.

Just saw a vid on youtube about how to reset the sunroof search there and follow that its interesting. Might fix it

CLEan out the rail trays, make sure drain tubes clear while you’re at it. Just use warm water/rags/pipe cleaners to wipe up dirt/dust that’s collected in trays & wipe around the weatherstripping/gasket all around perimeter of movable panel & the front edge of the rear fixed panel then coat all that weatherstripping w/ Fords “grytox” lube- only a little is needed. You’ll have to do some maneuvering inside the cab while putting the sunroof in multiple positions to gain accede to all these spots, but shouldn’t take more than 20-30 mins & no need to do this more than every 4-6 months IMO.

Alternatively you could do nothing wait for gunk to build up maybe clog the drain tubes cause a leak or the weatherstripping gets dry & stuck & causes the plastic tabs in the rails to snap & hope ford covers under warranty & doesn’t blame it on “worn weatherstripping” which isn’t do covered. Your choice.

Not a Raptor. But I am having the same issue with my 2019 Kingranch. Driving me nuts. Haven't taken it to the dealer yet. Wanted to research and figure where is was coming from first. Been a loyal ford owner all my life. before this truck I had a 2019 lariat. Ford had to buy it back according to the Indiana lemon law. The transmission was JUNK!! one before that was ok.. 2015. my 2012 had to have a new torque convertor put it. And it was brand new!!! I'm about over Ford. Don't know how much more I can take.

So your first post is nothing but a rant...maybe try introducing yourself in the new members section first?

A basic forum search would have revealed that the roof opening panel needs maintenance; dirt and dry weatherstripping between the roof and glass assembly can cause noise.

The solution is to open the roof to the vent position, clean the rubber seals with isopropyl alcohol (including rubber seal groove on the body side), and then apply a light coating of Krytox grease, which can be obtained on Amazon. Repeat the process with the ROP fully open to access the remaining seals.

My 15 KR Panoroof rattled like crazy, thankfully my 19 Raptor doesn't. But FordTechOne is 100% correct, Krytox will fix most if not all of the rattle. I lube mine every few months to keep things quiet.

Had my 18 to the dealer twice. He followed the Ford cleaning and lube procedure both times. After the second service, the sunroof started squeaking again within 3 days.

I decided to attempt my own fix. With the sunroof fully closed I simply liberally sprayed the gap between the sunroof and body with silicone spray. Immediately wiped overspray from paint and glass. The sunroof hasn't squeaked in over a month!

Good tip. That’s the method recommended in the TSB.
