Just from a machining view the valve and seat would make some noise unless there was a softer material. But a softer "quietier" buffer material would wear out, clogging up things maybe doing More damage. In theory they should "clack" opening and closing.
At my funeral burnout's are welcome ! No crying allowed.
Exactly, you have a spring loaded valve opening and closing for thousands of cycles. To me, it's just like blower whine or that awesome gurgle you get out of sidedraft webers, mechanical music.
