finally managed to get under the truck last night, been really busy the last few weeks.

anyways, i definitely see where the wire harness could be an issue as the routing is not ideal, but everything looks like its wrapped up tight. Theres no fraying of the wrap, exposed wiring, everything looks to be in order. See pics below

so after doing a bit more research i stumbled upon a thread from another forum. The OP outlined in detail what he did and discovered with his P0770 code.

Theres a secondary link here to one of those ask a mechanic sites that showed the blow up of the valve body, lead frame and the solenoids. Shift solenoid E (SSE) is #10 below. Next step, Im gonna track down the part number of the solenoid, then see what the cost is to replace it. Unfortunately, I probably wont be attempting this on my own.

just found the part number FL3Z-7A100-E, and it looks like its a complete assembly with the valve body, lead frame and all the solenoids. Seems like a good deal, considering all of the solenoids are already $60ea, would be an easier swap out and would just have to do it once. Maybe the shop time would be less? I do have 240K on the motor and trans.

small update. Dropped her off at the dealer yesterday, had pre-ordered the full valve body assembly last week as well. As much as I didnt want to do it, I still paid them for the diag to confirm what I already knew. That way in the event it didnt fix the issue, they knew what it was and agreed that this was the solution for a fix.

Turns out the extended warranty on the lead frame (Customer Program # 19N01) was still applicable just not to me. Im sitting at 244,000km and it the limit was 10 years or 240,000km. Gonna talk to the service manager today and see if they can still do something for me.

Does anyone have the Canadian letter that notified us of this extended warranty? I found the US version, but just wanted to see if there was any differences.

That's awesome, that's the only way to do it, with the whole assy. Hopefully they can bend the rules a bit as you were having the issues for a little while, pretty close to the cut off.

ya right now im at 4.7 hours to diag, the install, reprogram, and fluid refill. Thats on top of the $700 tag for the part and another $100 for the fluid. So hopefully they can help a guy out!

Still a lot cheaper than a new transmission. I thought that part was cheaper, going to have to look around. Hopefully they can do something for you, since it's a known issue.

that link above was the cheapest I could find it at $575+ $40 shipping, I already grinded the parts dept down to $700 as they quoted me at $840 originally. Im willing to pay the extra $85 as they would warranty the part in the event of another failure. So saving that bit of money wasnt worth the risk cause its not something I can just pull off and send back to the other retailer for warranty

BAH! the code P0770 is not part of that warranty extension. Looks like im on the hook :(

edit: When i got the truck earlier this year, i did all of the scheduled maintenance at the 240K mark, which included a tranny flush/fluid exchange, the filter was not changed at the time. After reading about the whole flush vs no flush debate, I think this may have played a role in this code. It sucks to think that you are doing your truck some good, when in fact it could harm it. Maybe the high mileage could have led to this eventually anyways.

Lesson learned, I will research the crap out of every service before i get it to find out what has been said and done in the past. The Raptor tax has hit me hard in the first year of ownership lol
