38 now, married with a couple rug rats. Raptor was the 1st vehicle I bought new, and by far the most id spent on vehicles. In the >20 years of driving prior, the total I had spent on buying vehicles was less than $4000 (of which I got back $2600 when I sold them & I gave one car to a family member)

27 here. first vehicle I purchased new but definitely not the first vehicle I purchased. You certainly appreciate it more when you pay for it. I wish I could have afforded it when I was in high school like some of these chaps...

61 tomorrow...... Oh yeah, paid for it myself Lol.. Props to the "younger" membership who bought on their own with their own money. I've lost track, decades ago, of how many vehicles I have purchased over the years but bought my first one, a 61 Powerwagon, at 16 when I worked as a seismic jug hand, Junior Operator, then went to work as a roughneck to pay for school as the vehicle "journey" began. A new vehicle then, for someone my age was unheard of. Of course in those days the "norm" was to be self sufficient by 18 but that morality / reality has changed. I admire the younger set that can pull that off as the financial burdens and costs these days preclude that "luxury" for the majority. Like my domestic Goddess of 40 years says...." Rob, it's a whole new normal". My roughnecks and techologists / scientists, to a large extent, seem to still be living at home with Ma and Pa, at 30+ years of age, but are driving shiny new trucks.. Priorities change I suppose.
