Well I'm also an engineer, and know the math I laid out for you works better for my exact situation...and again...this is coming from someone that could pay for it outright, but as previously mentioned, doesn't make sense for a slew of reasons.

Your debt to income ratio has no bearing on taxes. Banks use that to determine if they'll give you loans. The only thing the IRS cares about is how much income you earned. If you buy it outright your income is reduced and your taxes are lower.

There is some truth to this, but only if you are only in the highest tax bracket by less than $70k or you plan to earn more the following years. But honestly I just don't believe the 26 year old and his 5 businesses. At the very least he needs to hire better tax experts.

This won't end well. Someone will say they are 17 and their dad bought them the truck, and everyone else will explode.

I wouldn't necessarily be jealous...just remembering that my first car was a 1990 Geo Metro because my parents wouldn't let me buy the Mustang I was eyeing or the Bronco (they were paying insurance).

To each their own, but it is my opinion that it is the Parents' fault for buying their kid an expensive Raptor or any premium vehicle as a first car.

It's a privilege for a teenager to have 4 wheels to get from point A to point B and back. They don't get to be choosers in my humble parental opinion.

I certainly wouldn't buy them a brand new first car..let alone a Raptor.

Good point. I already have a plan for my son (he's 3). Now that they're bringing the Ranger back, i'll pick up a used 10 year old Ranger with the smallest cab possible (less distraction from friends, no ability to knock up GF) and the smallest engine.
