Guess it wouldn't hurt to have two on order as long as both have refundable deposit no matter what. Knowing what I know now, I kinda wish I did. I have one on order and hope to have soon but still really no idea and another about 6 more hours away from a dealer that ordered one for their stock and accepted my offer if my doesn't come in this month. Both are identical except the dealer stock one will cost me about $1800 more but I really like the idea of a back-up plan and really has set my mind at ease, so it's worth it to me.

I guess it couldn't hurt as long as both understand that you will walk away if there is any funny business. Just the feeling of confidence knowing if everything isn't perfect, you have options to tell one dealer to take a hike. And you can get the one that comes the fastest. Go for it. :)

Got an email this morning, from that other dealer who is trying to sell me a Raptor. I had to laugh at his response. To back up a little bit, I gave him 3 requests and if he could meet them I would buy from him. Keep in mind that at this stage of the game, Raptors are like gold to dealers and few are willing to negotiate. But I threw 3 unbelievable requests at him anyway. What did I care...I have nothing to lose. Well, his response was what I thought it would be...NO! But, I could just see him reading my email and saying to himself..."man, you must be out of you f**kin mind...I oughta drive to your house and beat the shit out of you, just for making me reading such a stupid f**kin email". But his email response was much more diplomatic..."Dear Sir, I would love to make this deal happen. But unfortunately I just can't meet your requests". Oh well, can't blame me for trying. Needless to say...I will not be hearing from that dealer again.

Just wondering...how long does it typically take to get a VIN number?[/QUOTE]

4-5 weeks if they had an allocation.

Were you trying to get a deal below invoice or something?

Not all. I knew I couldn't get anything like that. But I really wanted to see what a dealer would do or how far they would go to sell a Raptor. Think of what I was doing as an experiment. Besides,...what's the worst that could have happened...I get an awesome deal? Also, my wife will be buying a new vehicle (not a Raptor...I know, she ain't right) soon. So I figured it would be a good "dry run" for when I buy her's. In the end, I just wanted to learn as much as I could about the car buying experience and methods, while having nothing to lose.
